Ping Spikes

A few days ago I started to get random ping spikes in CS:GO. TF2 works fine, as do other multiplayer shooters (Battlefield 3, Tribes:Ascend, Arma 3, etc.) It will randomly spike to 600+, back down to 200+, and then settle back at whatever the ping for the server would normally be. This happens for all servers, community and matchmaking.

I know it isn't my ISP, and I already reinstalled the game. Anyone else having this issue, or am I just f***ed?

This has been happening to me too over the last few weeks. I will be playing with a normal ping and then rise up to 200 or more and then drop back down to normal. It dosen't seem to happen to me on other games and I have tried two different routers.

Make sure you have nothing downloading in background, happened to me a lot of time with steam workshop updates.


Also, if you can post your configuration (and a screenshot of the netgraph too when you have ping issues), this could be usefull.

Do you use a router to get online ? If yes, what is the manufacturer/model ?

I had an issue with my older router (thomson) blocking ports randomly.

Anyway, give us more details please.

Yer dude getting the same issue all games work fine but for cs:go every minute or so spike from like 200 normally but sometimes its alteast 600 i have no idea whats going on

Same, I am playing a match of CS:GO and randomly my ping skyrockets from 40-60 to 100-300 this happens on both community and matchmaking. This problem is extreamly annoying and makes competitive matches impossible for me too win and I have been deranked 3 times so far. They're are no downloads or unnecessary programs open in the background. I have messed around with my settings including multicore rendering and such but the problem still persists. This all started around 3-7 days ago and this happens too only CS:GO, not sure if it is due to the recent updates or not I have checked my router multiple times and I am possitive that my router isn't the problem. Please help me, thanks.

This is still happening, and on valve servers only. I'm getting the same problem in League of Legends. (worse, actually), but not on community servers or on any 1.6 servers. That tells me the hosts are either paying for too little bandwidth on certain pipes, or some ISPs are messing with traffic. The problem doesn't seem to be in valve's hands, though.

I been getting lag too.Any online game I play, I would lag for like 3 minutes then it would slowly go back down.I don't know why.
