If someone is annoying you on voice chat...
People.

If someone is getting on your nerves on voice chat, just mute them. Do not get on your own mic and yell back at them. If you do, (1) you've just given them what they want, and (2) the rest of us will just mute you too. If you mute them instead of yelling at them, then you won't even know they're talking. It's magic!

(If their voice chat is abusive, you can and should report them. If it's just annoying, then just muting them is probably sufficient.)

No do not report them, just grow a pair and deal with it or mute them. It's the Internet, this is Counter-Strike and that is just how things have been since they added voice communication to the game. Reporting people for stupid things that you can just avoid not only floods the moderation team for the game, it makes actual reports for cheating and things like that with some type of purpose take even longer to be handled; because of all of the spam they get from people with logic like you.

I know you're trying to help and be nice but honestly this is extremely common knowledge, it doesn't need to be said at all as voice communication has been in Counter-Strike since version 1.3 in 2001. You should not be encouraging reporting players for things like this, it's borderline on level with when someone has a porn avatar on their profile or something. Just don't look at it and move on, I know being Captain America and saving the children is your goal but it's just an inevitability that they will experience anyways.

Tell me one 13 year old (age requirement to use Steam) that is not thinking about sex, swearing and doing god only knows what and I will give you 1000 to that one that are. You can't shelter people, it doesn't work and to be honest spawns even worse and more rebelious kids.

Just sayin' man, I mean this with total respect, I just find it to be a waste of time, energy and resources better exuded on other more important things.

I said report if it's abusive. I didn't say anything about a porn avatar or asinine remarks or anything. Yeah, for that sort of stuff, I totally agree just learn to deal (and mute). I only brought up the report because some voice chat stuff really is beyond the pale (eg persistent slurs or abuse directed at a specific player).

As to stuff that's just puerile nonsense: well, I have a 12yo daughter and I wouldn't really have a problem with her hearing the sort of crap that comes over the mic, or seeing most of the avatars people have. For that sort of thing, I totally agree: just mute it if you don't want to hear it. (Indeed that was sort of my point.)

My reason for posting wasn't to be Captain America and save the children or any of that crap. It was that I had just come from a game where someone was being silly and making mouth sound effects on the mic, and a few others started yelling at him to shut up, and then others started yelling at them to shut up, etc.

So yes, mute. Report if you must, but (here is my real point again) whatever you do, don't react on-mic.

I get what you are saying but I still just say mute them and move on regardless of how bad it is. I don't care if they are being racist, swearing, talking about sex or plotting a terrorist attack on the mic. Like I said reporting people for things you can avoid completely as an individial with the click of a button is a total waste of game moderation resources.

The less insignificant things that are reported the more important things can be handled and in a much more timely fashion.

but you can pretty much instantly tell if a player is toxic especially in text chat. Toxicity will ruin lots of players enjoyment of the game and can be fixed easier than cheating players. Abuse in real life isn't tolerated so why allow it in game?

This guy right here is an example of annoying people and puts the blame on other people whenever a round is lost in a comp MM game. ---> http://steamcommunity.com/id/KinimodProductions/
