Via console, "voice_scale" should work. Set between 0 and 1.

Hey - I've tried to mute them with DEL on their name in leaderboard screen - used to work but doesn't anymore - anyone else experience this?

Now you have to choose the player the same way as before, but then press ENTER, and then ''block communication''. :)

Go into audio options, microphone option, advanced microphone options. A window in the Steam overlay will pop up showing the receive and transmit sliders.

It was my understanding that the "receive" slider (in audio options/advanced/mic) only controls how loudly you hear your own mic voice transmissions echoed back to you. Is that incorrect?

No, there is no default audio loopback. But yes, if you have enabled voice_loopback, you will hear your own voice from the server in the "recieve" volume, which affects all voices recieved from the server, including yourself's.
