How to start game on secondary monitor
I'm not able to start game on secondary monitor. I tried to use in-game options, but none of them worked.

My hardware and setup:
  • Laptop Lenovo Ideapad Y580 (primary display)
  • Samsung SyncMaster P2470HD (secondary)
Both 1920x1080 (native resolutions)

I tried so far:
  • I used fullscreen option in video options menu and tried to switch between Computer monitor and Television options. >>> It didn't switch screens.
  • I used windowed fullscreen and tried to switch between monitors using shortcuts Win key + Shift + Left or Right arrow. >>> I just saw something like part of screen on 2nd monitor, but it was black and only about 2cm high strip on whole width of screen. But everything else remain on 1st screen.
  • I used windowed option and tried to move window from primary to secondary display. >>> I was able to switch between monitors. In menu I saw next to in-game mouse pointer also windows mouse, but once I tried to launch map, monitor didn't show map graphics. I saw menu with guns from start of map, but no enviroment. Same thing happened when I switched loaded map, I saw last slide from primary display, but when I moved nothing happened screen stood still.
  • I've set up launch option -windowed for game and tried to move from one display to another. >>> The same as ingame windowed option.

If you have solution for this, I would really appreciate it.

you need to set your secondary monitor as your primary then launch the game, kind of a hassle, but it is what it is...

CS:Source lets you chose the display you want. Too bad it isn't so on GO.

go into big picture mode. then go to settings --> display --> target monitor. Sorry its a little late but i honestly just figured this out. It should make the game/games open on the "target monitor" whether it is your primary or secondary monitor.

just right click your screen and play with extened display, without csgo open, easiest way to do this

Go to Options -> Video Settings -> Display mode -> set it as Fullscreen Windowed

Then press Window Key+Shift+Right Arrow

ok, but what if my second screen is 4 times the resolution (it is 4k and main is 1080)?
When I use win+Shift+left(or right) it pops up as expected, but I don't have the possibility to set the screen size to larger than what the game was opened in.
The results are that the game is "full screen" for 1/4 of my screen.
Any solutions other than to switch main display?

Question is why not have it as primary always?

Perhaps you play on a laptop. And that laptop isn't always connected to the same monitor.
