2. Don't make sound
3. Listen for footsteps, reload or scope sounds
4. If you see him before he sees you, repeat step 1. :D
5. Shoot!
Damage is far greater to the head and is usually the only place worth aiming for. Trying safe shots to the torso tend to get you killed unless you know the enemy is already low on health. Or perhaps you catch them with their backs turned.
Spray patterns are different with every gun. Guns tend to have 1-3 accurate shot depending on the weapon and then the bullets will generally land above your crosshair and then move a little side-to-side. The exact way this happens is different for each weapon. To keep your shots in the same general area, you need to learn the pattern and then move your crosshair in the opposite direction from the pattern.
Or of course limit yourself to bursts (practically mandatory beyond close range).
Oh. And noise is very important. Be mindful of giving enemies hints. Footsteps give your location, picking the bomb will give your location, reloading or defusing might tell the enemy you're vulnerable. Remember it works both ways. In some cases you can even use sound to bait and deceive enemies in a few different ways. Finally if you hear flashbang being called, be mindful of where it is bound to land in advance.
Playing deathmatch can help a bit. No respawn waits makes it an intensive way of putting your aim at test (Prepare to be killed a lot too ;) )
There's also quite a bit of map flow knowledge, where to hide, where people usually come from and such also plays it's role. Not knowing the maps usually means you don't know where your enemy can be.
Basically this LOL. I've always got a little nervous as well when it comes down to a 1v1 situation. But if you follow those steps you'll at least have a good head start. You'd be surprised how many kills you can get just by listening to foot steps.
