how do i see my FPS

w/e you typed in to get it on screen just put a 0 at the end of it and type it in again, so if you used cl_showfps 1 then go to console and put 0 instead of a 1

You can also use net_graph 1. To disable it, type net_graph 0. (Since 1=ON or "true" and 0= OFF or "False" this makes sense. This is also how binary works. 1= true 0= false. :) Hope this helps.

Ya, and this is not binary. Can be misleading to say it is. These are variables, and many of them can have a number of values.
