Problem with Sounds / Steps
Hello!
I would like to get your opinion on a problem I am having. Often when I play with teammates on Teamspeak and get killed because I didn't hear where exactly someone came from and they were spectating, they say "How didn't you hear him? He came from your right" - "???"
I am using the Corsair Vengeance 1500 on 5.1 mode (+ Dolby ProLogic IIx) with the Default EQ preset. I don't have the best ears, but in real-life I don't have trouble hearing steps either, right? :P
Please tell me if you have any tipps on what I could do to improve the sound in CS:GO, so I can hear footsteps and overall little noises better. Also tell me if you need more info!

Greetings, Kyshu

Try this. Go to Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Click Sound after launching click communication tab and choose do nothing. Since you're using teamspeak, it will lower the game's volume and giving teamspeak more priority. That's why you can't hear their footsteps.

Zaprowsdower: Thanks for the tip, I tried a smiley face shape in the EQ, but I'm gonna try that EQ, too. Thanks!

Dirge Cerberus: Did that ages ago :) It's not only when I am in Teamspeak.

I have exactly the same problem when I play I don't hear clear from which direction the footsteps come from however when I'm in spectator mode I hear clearly where the sound come from. I use the Sennheiser PX 200 II and put the audio setting on "headphone".

this should fix your issue. Also your in-game audio settings for CSGO should be set to headset instead of 2.1 or 5.1 or whatever other choices there are.

Thanks energon, I will try seeing how it is in spectator mode, actually.

Brendan: I have already tried the Communication > Do Nothing thing, that's one of the first things I always do when installing Windows :)
Thanks for giving me the Headphones setting tip, I thought at 5.1 it would be best.

Btw: Thanks for the late reply, haha

The Corsair 1500 headphones have Dolby stereo mode so try that.
Also there is a FPS preset on the Corsair gui.

p.s. In game settings should be stereo or headset.
Also version 1.1 is the only stable version I've used, search Corsair forums for it.

its just the game, no sound issues, its make so if you hear footsteps you dont know where they exactly come from

Did you ever resolve this issue? If so, how?

FWIW my Corsairs mic died and sound quality was degrading so I upgraded to some regular Sennheisers.

My MOBO comes with onboard stereo with Realtek software that doesn't have saveable equalizer presets, currently using "Party" setting in effects for best results.Further mods were needed because footsteps became omnipresent with better headphones

Added this to launch options "-snd_headphone_pan_exponent 1 -snd_front_headphone_position 45 -snd_rear_headphone_position 135 -snd_headphone_pan_radial_weight .2" (All this is sort of overdone for launch options and really should be in cfg. file) .Idk if these mods will help Corsairs or not but worth a try in console.

Also lowered in game sound to around 20-25 where as with Corsairs it was always 100 and controlled through headset.

Try going to "Help and options ------- Audio Settings -------- Audio Output Configuration" Then change whatever setting you have into "Stereo Headphones"

=========================================================================
Valve made this update last nov 2017 i think this might help you a bit too
Below "Audio Output Configuration" There is "Advanced 3d audio Processing" make sure to ENABLE it
