Map rotation and number of bots
Hi all, apologies if this is out of order, have tried to find a similar thread but couldn't.

I only play with bots so if this doesn't interest you, no worries :)

How can I set up map rotation so I'm not constantly playing one map, please? I don't mind keep quitting out but I think it would be better if I could just set up a half dozen maps to rotate between after each map.

Also, number of bots. I don't mind playing 5 v 5 but it would be nice to play 10 v 10 or whatever.

Thanks in advance,

H

In order to change the number of bots that you can play and practice with, you need to edit some files. The first thing you want to is go into your csgo folder. Then right click the gamemodes.txt file and choose Copy. Then right click somewhere else in that folder and choose Paste. You will now have a new file called Copy of gamemodes.txt. Now what you want to do is right click that file and choose Rename. Then rename that file to gamemodes_server.txt. Now you want to open the gamemodes_server.txt file to edit some things. You'll want to change the maxplayers setting for the gamemodes. To do that, just maximize Notepad (or whatever you use to open .txt files) and as you scroll through the file, you'll see each gamemode and a maxplayers setting for each gamemode. Just change the number that is in semicolons beside maxplayers to what you want it to be. Scroll down and you can change the maxplayers for each gamemode. After that, save the changes to the file. Only edit the gamemodes_server.txt file. Don't make any changes to the gamemodes.txt file. Only make changes to the gamemodes_server.txt file.

Now the next thing you have to do is go into your csgo\cfg folder. In there you will see some files that start with gamemode_ and end with cfg. Those are the files that contain the settings for each gamemode. And now you'll want to edit some of those files. The only ones that I modified to my liking are armsrace, casual, competitive, deathmatch, and demolition. It is probably not necessary for you to change anything in the custom or training fies. Anyway open each file one by one with Notepad or whatever you use and maximize the screen. Being that you just want to change the maximum number of bots, you will only need to change one setting. That setting is bot_quota (it's near the top). What you want to do is change that number to whatever you want the maxplayers to be for that particular gametype. So you can look back at your gamemode_servers.txt file if you forgot what you set maxplayers to for each gametype. As far as I know, the maxplayers setting for that gametype, and the bot_quota setting for that gametype, have to be the same number. Then save the changes to each file as you edit them. You will also notice that a whole bunch of other settings are available to change in those gamemode_(whatever).cfg files as well. You may want to look through them because maybe you may see other settings you may want to change too. But for now, I just told you how to change the maximum number of bots that you can play with.

Another thing is that sometimes when we get a CS GO update, those gamemode_(whatever).cfg files are reset back to their defaults. So that means that we have to go back into them and change them back to our liking. And sometimes the gamemodes.txt file may be modified too. And if that happens, we may have to make a new gamemodes_server.txt file again.

So I hope that you're not too confused and can figure this out. Now with regards to how do you make a maplist so that you're not always playing on the same map with bots, I don't currently know how to do that. I hope someone can explain how

well, if you get bored of a map just type "map de_nuke" in console for nuke
de_dust2
de_aztec.. etc

it isnt really a rotation but it works :p
