Audio sounds like I'm in a fish bowl after upgrading pc

On my old system the sound was great with perfect sound balance in shooting and footsteps. I didn't have any special console command audio settings and never tweaked anything besides the basic sliders in the audio settings of the game. My output device is straight to my headset rather than default device. I built a whole new system and installed cs2 only for it to sound like I'm playing in a fishbowl. This issue is only in cs2; all other games and applications such as spotify and youtube sound great. I tried reinstalling the game again but that did nothing. Any fixes?
