VAC is fine, it's just pr by hatters
Only if you have bad trust factor you can get cheaters, but vac bans them instantly. Just look at discussions, many are saying the same and agree that low trust factor is the problem

When in a so called "pro-league" on faceit some guy complains that he got banned for two years because of cheating on faceit and the hub doesn't kick him out, but instead they support him and say "no matter you'll just use your other account, it's good you didn't get banned on steam", it is clear that this world is almost depleted out of dignity.

By not improving their AC they either state that they are not willing or not able to protect their game nor the community.

With the #1 player @ Faceit convicted of cheating how could anyone ever believe that there is a single fair playing pro player ?

They could implement CIA level security for cheats and people would still find a way to combat it. If there was a kernel level anti-cheat, that would MAYBE reduce the cheating by 5 percent.
