Why CS 2 is so popular game?

as the title says why CS 2 is so popular game? This is generous question and I don't mean to look down who plays this game.

Because it is a pure shooter. There is no aim assist, there aren’t ‘perks’ or ridiculous game mechanics. Its a simple game that is easy to get into but hard to master.

Because its a camperfest luck based game, if you move you have no idea where your shots actually go, doesnt matter if i keep my crosshairs glued to your forehead you might kill me by aiming wherever, this randomness makes it less boring i guess

because of its simplicity. it is very easy to watch and understand , but still has depth when played

1. real-world guns without all-out inconvenient sim gameplay ( relatability )
2. very simple movement-vs-accuracy dichotomy that stretches for miles ( replayability )
3. equipment is actually somewhat tactical in this version ( smoke, fire, etc. competitiveness )
4. it's been around since 1999 and is essentially the same game over and over just upgraded / adjusted over time. ( long-term fanbase )
5. good enough graphics to keep up with modern games
