Everything is viable -- if you honestly think AK or M4 is as OP remotely as the AWP, you're crazy. They take skill to use well -- shotguns, smgs, scouts, and even the negev can be op when used well. Skill issue.

When a good 80% of players all use the same gun there is clearly a balancing issue

the galil is decent, it cant pen armor as well as the ak, so it is best used on round 2-3 when the CT side wont have armor, also lets u save a few hundred for early round utilies

also ive been finding myself useing the mp7 a bit more on ct side early rounds, best used for short range areas, like guarding B tunnels on dust 2

Galil is actually very good now, along with the Famas being close, agreed.

It hurts me as a veteran to see those threads. The ak was always the most famous weapon in CS since 1999 and the figurehead. The ak is closely followed by the m4 and awp. Then comes the deagle.

These weapons require the most skill but also are the best when it comes about price/performance.

And in CS 1.6 and even source there were barely any other guns used. The only other pistol which was ok was the usp. No shotguns. The mp5 was the only submachine guns which was used but only usefull against pistols and no other weapon was used. No scout, sg, aug, autosniper or heavy weapon.

And everyone was fine with that. Because people played the game because of the game.

Valve managed to make nearly every gun viable for GO while the 4 mentioned weapons are still the best.

This is a long history and the identity of CS and what makes CS so good and special. Those threads hurt because new player don't know the history and identity of CS and want to destroy the identity which was created nearoy 25 years ago.

Imagine a country or a sports club changes their symbols on the logo/national flag. It loses identity. You don't so that.

I mean its the same thing as in valorant, it would be horrible if CS2 became like Call of Duty, everyone just run and gun with dumb stuff like shotgun or SMG.

its not a balancing issue since the guns cost money to get, the ak and m4 are designed to be powerful since theyre the second most expensive weapons of their class and the scope on the more expensive versions of the rifles helping at long range situational angles. The balancing weaponwise is just fine since anything cheaper than those two is meant to be used for lower eco rounds and anything more for high lethality at a premium.

Dude, theres literally a tier system you moron. The M4 and AK are supposed to be the main weapons. Thats why they cost more than the weaker weapons.

ppl use m4/ak because they can do most damage per second, aka dps.

There was a time when sg553 had the price and dps similar to AK, and because of its better recoil and scope, ppl turned to it. And those days pro players on T side even had to force themselves to not just buy 5 sg553s because they were too OP and if CTs picked them up, things could be terrible.

So, it doesnt really matter what gun it is, ppl would just use the highest dps gun. It's just atm it's ak and m4.

It’s not really the dps it’s the one hit headshot of the ak and the fact that the m4 is insanely reliable with a very low spread, price is super important too, the guns aren’t meant to be equal since if they were then there’d be no reason to buy a rifle that isn’t the famas or Galil since they’re the cheapest

Also if we wanna get technical the highest dps would be the Negev, but due to its unique firing mechanics and slow movement speed, it’s not that reliable except in certain situations

there's never been a time before in the history of counter-strike where people had this many viable choices for different rounds. You have:

Mac10/mp9
AK/M4
Famas/Galil
Aug/SG
Deagle
Tec9/Five seven
P250
USP/P2000/Glock
Nova/Mag7
UMP
AWP
Scout

All viable choices, all of them used by professional players

i agre with you on ur points. ak47 also had the least amount of balancing by valve. it was well balanced. but oh boy the old deaagle and the r8 wghen it came out were very questionable xd
