Is this common? 'cause I heard a lot of ppl with this issue. Is it normal to rank down even if I win a match? how is this supposed towork

Sure you were not kicked from previous match? If so(sure) then it might really be based on waged average smoothing...

Can you cycle through your last competitive games and recall if you had in the past a match, where you excelled your skills significantly? I would appreciate the number of matches from then till derank - that could tell us something more about the system.

Maybe 3-4 matches before the de-rank, maybe I wasn't top notch every match, but I had pretty much a positive kda rateo (that, as #Thor said, it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ if it's based on it), won almost every match, 1 even vs a 5-man stack. But I got deranked...how fair.

Is a ELO-System. This means every fight count. You (nova3) kill a rival (nova2) (you and your rival have the same gun). Your ELO increase (but not much). After that a rival (rank silver) kills you (you and your rival have the same gun). Your ELO sink heavily. In total your ELO sink.

You can change the adicity by guns. so increase your ELO still more: your gun a smp (your rank nova3) vs rival gun awp (nova master).

How did you get these details? Can you provide a source?

It doesn't make any sense what so ever. It's not my fault if I'm matched with ppl who are maybe lower than my skill level, and it isn't even showed (only when the match ends), so no matter what, if I am matched with such ppl, kill them, win the match...my rank is supposed to go down? This ♥♥♥♥ ain't fair.

@Falcon.PL

1. I have no insider source.
2. I know that valve use a ELO-System. Ergo it counts every single fight in a round. (more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elo_rating_system )
3. i play only MM.
4. i play with 2 friends.
5. i join this group after they had their ranks.
6. so i played my first 10 wins with high ranked rivals ("high" rank! - eq. to the rank of my friends).
7. my 1. rank after this 10 wins was silver master.
8. to day, after 196 wins in MM: my friends kill more rivals than i do. But after every match i notice the rank of my kills and the of my friends. They (my friends) kill more lower rank with awp. The few kills, I observe (with mp7-ak/m4), are high-ranking players (with ak/m4 or awp).

because my friends use AWP/AUG, I use smp or AK/M4.

we now come to our deaths:

I am often killed by awp/AK/M4. My friends often killed by SMP/AK/M4.
Now consider the ranks of our killers: on average they are more killed by lower/eq ranks than I
The result of this: they are deranked often and faster than i - although they will kill more and often less killed. (on a bad day)
the other way around I will increase faster than my friends - although they will kill more and often less killed. (on a good day)

I noticed/realized this in a game during the week at night without my friends. I was a group randomly assigned, they are all ranked 3-6 ranks (AK and Eagle) higher than i (4 rounds in a row). I have in evrey match 6-12 kills and 15-22 deaths and we lose every match but i increase my rank.

So is any 1v1 situation more critical than whether you win or lose the whole match. this does not mean that the entire match plays no role, but at the end it has less weight than any 1v1 situation in the match.

this is a personal observation! (and my english is bad - I can explain it in german and one that can translate well, can this translate into polish, french or english)

In short: it brings more to kill a high-ranking than 3 equal-ranking.
and it is to be less bad than killed by a high-ranking player than by a lower/eq ranking player.

i hope you understand my bad english

PS: the whole Valve-ELO-System are complexer than i explain but a simple computational example:

Your ELO-Rank ist gold nova master. Your friends has a silver-rank. Now you join a game the ranks are eq. to you friend (it can also run the other way - you and your friends join a match where all ranks eq. to you). But you join a match eq. rank of your friend.
You win this whole match. You kill every round 1-3 players, but you'll also killed each round.
every kill you made, increase your ELO-value +20 Points, because you killed lower ranking player than your rank (for comparison: your friend gets per kill +50 Points, because the ranks are eq.). but for every death you will be deducted 90 Points, because they low than you. After every Round in this match your ELO-value fall 30-70 Points. So you win this Match but at the end your elo-value decreases. After 3-10 Matches with your friend you deranked.

While being a certain rank restricts you the possibility to join some teams etc...ofc it matters. But I guess I'll just have to deal with this system and keep going. Thx to everyone btw.

like what? they "say" oh... you cant join us with that rank. ♥♥♥♥ that...

I never see someone who get down ranked after a win and i win over 200 matches. So i think it is just a bug or a delay.

The Stats are not this important. You can play like a noob with 6 Kills and 20 Deaths and the Rank increase after the won match (Often seen at friends).
If I play with my friends, there or my rank not increase faster because of higher Points.
So winning is the key to increase your rank ;)

That's the point, and that's why it made no sense when it happened...but as I said, if it's a bug/delay or hell knows what...just have to deal with it and keep having fun :D:
