Thoughts on CS:GO
All key ideas in one sentence: add new mode with iron sights; add M72, MP5-S, AA-12, S12K; change weapon mechanics to how it's done in R6 Siege; change ammo indicator to how it's been done in CS:S; add body fragmentation; add new factions including female models; make helmet and armor visible on a player model if it has actually been bought; don't match new CS:GO players with players who have played this game for 100+ hrs.

Hi there.

I've played CS:GO for 2500+ hrs and I want to share some of my thoughts with you.
My thoughts are based on my experience in games: Counter-Strike, Crysis, Payday 2, Wolfenstein: The New Order, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Quake III Arena, Unreal Tournament III, Battlefield 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and many others. Hopefully this will help to improve the game.

:first_star:Add 2 new game modes: Modern Casual / Competitive (my original suggestion was to change classic modes but apparently there's a lot of people who had not enough of 1.6 gameplay so just leave classic modes as it is and add 2 new ones).

:first_star:Add aiming using iron sights to "Modern" modes.

"Iron sights" is just a piece of texture:missing:. Adding iron sights doesn't mean that you won't be able to hit anything shooting "hipfire". Those who don't like it may continue to play with the usual model drawing. Personally I've played most of the time with r_drawviewmodel 0:csgocross:. This is how they can make it to please everyone: press RMB activates iron sights texture and zoom-in (a bit less than AUG/SG 553 scope) but doesn't change the accuracy at all. So you may spend a second:ggeclock: to see:evileye: the enemy better through iron sights or start shooting right away with the same chance of hitting the enemy:wasted:.

:first_star:Make weapon mechanics more realistic in "Modern" modes:

The weapon mechanics is a big disappointment for me. In a real life, when you pull out a pistol (e. g. Glock) you only have to move slide once to put a round into the chamber. In a game you do it (game plays animation) every time you switch to your weapon. Also I wanted to have a double reload feature like they implemented in Crysis. 1st reload - you put a magazine into your pistol/rifle and chamber a round, 2nd reload - you put a round into a magazine and attach it back to your weapon and get +1 round. So this is how I'd like game to work:

:csgogun:[round start (T)] "pull out Glock, pull the slide back and release" animation
:csgogun:[press 3] "show knife" animation
:csgogun:[press 2] "show Glock" animation (pull out pistol without moving the slide)
:csgogun:[press RMB] aim through the iron sights
:csgogun:[press RMB] standard view (hipfire)
:csgogun:[press 2] "thumb moves near the slide" animation (switch to burst fire mode)
:csgogun:[press 2] "thumb moves near the slide" animation (switch to semi-auto mode)
:csgogun:[press R] "extract and insert a magazine" animation (now you have 20 rounds in your magazine and 1 round in a chamber)
:csgogun:[press LMB 20 times] 20 gunshots (now you have 0 rounds in your magazine and 1 round in a chamber)
:csgogun:[press LMB] single gunshot, slide stop holds the action open 'cause the magazine is exhausted
:csgogun:[press 3] "show knife" animation
:csgogun:[press 2] "show Glock with a slide pulled back" animation (pull out pistol without moving the slide)
:csgogun:[press LMB] no animation (nothing happens)
:csgogun:[press R] "extract and insert a magazine, slide release" animation (now you have 19 rounds in your magazine and 1 round in a chamber)
:csgogun:[press R] "extract and insert a magazine" animation (now you have 20 rounds in your magazine and 1 round in a chamber)

Dual Berettas is another big disappointment for me. I haven't played CS:S for a long time because I was fed up with its various problems and played CoD:MW2 instead so it felt very outdated to play with dual berettas. It feels like it's a glock with a 30 round magazine. I really like how you can fire M9 Akimbo (which is dual berettas equivalent in MW2). LMB is fire the pistol in your left hand and RMB is fire your pistol in your right hand. This enables you to shoot both pistols simultaniously. And what's the point of having 2 guns if you can't shoot it at the same time?

:first_star:You should be able to mount bayonet on a rifle.

After you mount it there should be an option of using "charged" melee attack.

:first_star:Add more guns.

Since developers added 3 weapons (M4A1-S, USP-S and CZ75) we know that it's possible to add new guns. I'd really like to see these in CS:GO:

:gunslinger: S12K (Saiga) Replace Both Teams Nova
Imagine an AK-47 with a rebuilt chamber to house shotgun shells and you have this automatic shotgun.
It fits perfectly between expensive XM1014 and Sawed-Off and can be balanced with less power than XM1014 but more rounds and much quicker reload time. There're 3 pump action shotguns in CS:GO right now, and only 1 that holds rounds in a detachable magazine. And that one is MAG-7, and it's one of those 3 pump action shotguns. In my opinion pump action shotgun is obsolete. It's really dangerous to use it in combat since you need to chamber the next round manually after each shot.

:gunslinger: Lupara (sawed-off double barrel shotgun) T Replace Sawed-Off
It is just so much fun to play with it! Basically a 1 shot weapon. If you hit someone firing from both barrels at the same time in close range - they die, you miss - you die. As simple as that.

:gunslinger: AA12 CT Replace MAG-7
The AA12 is the newest weapon against the Terror. And it's awesome. And I want it. Add it, Valve! Please!

:gunslinger: .44 Revolver Replace Both Teams Desert Eagle
You keep outdated pump action shotguns, but why not add Dirty Harry's favorite?

I'd like to see MP5 with a detachable silencer like M4A1-S. More accurate, less ammo, less noise. I somewhat miss it... :sadpanda:
I'd like it back in a form of a little M4A1-S: just a little bit less damaging to keep the balance.

Even more guns.

:first_star:Add "Dual Wield" option for all pistols and smgs.

After I buy 1 gun I want to be able buy the same gun again and hold it in both hands. 2 P90s for :silverdollar:4700 is a good alternative to LMG. And a fun one!

After I saw this CS:CZ wallpaper I expected to see an RPG in a game. And all these years I have a feeling that there is a place for it in CS. We used to play Return to castle Wolfenstein multiplayer with RPG and flamethrower and it was fun. RPG can be balanced with a :silverdollar:10000 pricetag. I suggest adding a 1-shot RPG like M72 LAW. So you only use it once and continue with a pistol. To be clear, I want M72 that is exactly the same as HE grenade in terms of damage. Just a new skin, animation and more "throw" range.

Physics.

:first_star:Change movement speed rules.

Okay, I know that this is one of the Counter-Strike "trade marks" - that you can move faster if you switch your primary weapon to secondary and that you move the fastest if you switch to the knife. But it's simply ridiculous. The only proper way is to base movement rules on how much load you carry. And sprint should be limited in time and activated with a "SHIFT" button.

I believe that body fragmentation belongs to 1st person shooters.

I'd like to see custom skins for player models, e. g. Saints , Space Marines, 1920s gangsters , etc. Developers can make special "garment" crates.

:first_star:Make helmet and armor visible on a player model if the player has actually bought it.

I feel that if you've bought a helmet/kevlar vest it should be visible on a player skin. It's stupid and misleading that terrorists never wear helmets even if you bought one. Same with CT. E.g. FBI player skins. Some of FBI wear baseball hats, some have helmets. It should be accurately shown - if a player has bought a helmet - in-game model must have it on. Same with body armor.

Weapon skins.

I just want to mention that if exterior quality says "Factory New" it should look like it's new, it shouldn't just indicate that it has less wear than "Minimal Wear". Look at XM1014 Grassland or FAMAS Spitfire or many other skins. This also makes Bizon Rust Coat Factory New ridiculous. Guns don't come rusty from weapon factories. They should have just made 3 grades for this weapon, like they did for Dual Berettas Demolition.

:first_star:Add better Rare Special Items.

I mean COME ON why should I or anypony else pay :silverdollar:400 for a Karambit if I can buy 1 in a real life for less than :silverdollar:40 (United Cutlery Honshu)? I want a chainsaw:chainsaw:, impact hammer, viking sword, and samurai katana. Rectifier and a giant purple diId0 also would be nice (NEVER leave home without one). And a crowbar is a must.

Ammunition.

Why is it always rifle round picture shown next to ammo indicator? In CS:S we even had caliber written next to correct ammo picture.

Overwatch.

Overwatch has been in beta way too long. Make an upgradable Operation Overwatch coin already. 1 case judged correctly grants you a coin:Coin_Thief:, 50 cases for a silver one:farthing:, 100 cases for gold:goldcoin:.
Valve can determine if the Overwatcher is capable of judging cases correctly by adding an Overwatch Exam. Similar to how you get a driving licence. So before you join OW, you are asked to judge 20 cases that were created by Valve and where it is known if a suspect cheated or not. If a candidate gets at least 90% (18/20) correctly - it's a pass, if not - "thanks for your interest in OW". The cases must be chosen from a pool of 100 (or more) cases randomly, so that there would be no way to "cheat" your way into OW. Also after an overwatcher judges 5 cases in a row incorrectly (the majority of OWs decides otherwise) system should ask him to pass the exam again to check if he's still capable to judge cases correctly.
Once we deal with all the hackers watching offline "evidence", make it so we can join online match if someone has reported a cheater and ban him during the game (like we watch live matches in "Watch"):evileye:.

Cheaters.

:first_star:Let "normal" players play without cheaters.

Do you want to play CS:GO without cheaters? Behold! The solution.
When I play Matchmaking I encounter quite a lot of cheaters, especially during Steam sales. What do those blatant aimbotters and wall-hackers have in common? A new Steam profile with only 10-20 hrs in CS:GO. I suggest matching people in MM not only according to their rank but also to their playtime and number of competitive matches won. So that my team of 5 5-year veteran coin holders with 1K+ hrs each could never again be irritated by a bunch of cheating punks with brand new accounts.
New groups may be set like this:
:icon: 0-100 hrs
:csgob: 100-250 hrs and at least 10 competitive matches won
:choke: 250-500 hrs and at least 50 competitive matches won
:TheD: 500+ and 100+ competitive matches won
I rather doubt that you can cheat and avoid a VAC (and/or OW) ban for 500 hrs.
So here's an example.
If you've played, let's say, 300 hrs (and you have won 50 MM matches), MM system will start searching 9 players for you from your group (:choke:). If not enough players are available after 5 minutes of waiting it will search in groups :choke: and :TheD: for another 5 minutes. If not enough players are available after 10 minutes of waiting it will search in groups :choke:, :TheD: and :csgob: for yet another 5 minutes. And only after 15 minutes of searching, if there's still less than 9 people available for a match, system will add group :icon: to search.
So to avoid hackers just restart the search after 10 minutes.

Modes.

:first_star:Deathmatch mode is actually a TDM (Team Deathmatch) and needs to be renamed.

:first_star:Add a true "Free-for-all" DM mode.

:first_star:Add CTF mode.

Offline.

Bots.

In CS:S I could set an offline server in a couple of clicks to train with awp against 20 bots armed with pistols. Why do I have to use console to do that in CS:GO?

:first_star:Let us specify the number of bots before the match starts and weapons that they can use.

Why is this the only game that I can't pause?

:first_star:Add PAUSE button (for Offline with bots).

Maps.

Add Insertion to active duty group.
I like old CS maps like Dust, Aztec, etc. I like how they were updated for CS:GO. But other game developers are not so lazy and create new great maps. Only 2 maps made it from Quake III Arena to Quake 4, Battlefield has all-new maps every time. Same with CoD. But Counter-Strike is like Dust2:GO. Same maps all these years. This issue is partly addressed with Payback and Bravo, but I'm not entirely happy with the fact that I need to buy passes to play on new maps. I also don't quite like that operations are limited in time.

Initially I was going to write a laudatory article, something like "Good job, Valve", but there's too much I don't like about this game.

What has been done so far:
Default USP, M4A1-S, and CZ-75 Auto weapons that are on the ground will show the correct names in "swap for" message.
Added the Chroma Case, that features new finishes for knives. (Added "Damascus Steel" finish in particular)
R8 Revolver added :revolver:
Coins are hidden if "All Weapons" filter is chosen.

I feel like it wouldn't work. It would have to be really weak and only kill someone if it hits them spot on. I feel like it could be used to prevent any kind of b, long, cat, mid push, rush on dust 2 and I really don't like that idea.

Maybe the short ammo is enough... it wasn't enough to stop the cz from being so op.
It's just so easy to kill people with it... I barely play any tf2 and I can just predict where people will go, are, or where will they land and just shoot ahead and I keep destroying them with the rocket launcher.

There's actually a cs go ctf mode it's just crap. There's a css ctf plugin which is really good so I'm sad it doesn't work in cs go. It was really just my 2 cents.

Think about it, it can't hurt you if you don't play that game mode right? Just as with me, as long as cs go wont force me to play with ADS, I'm fine with them being in the game for other players in their own game mode.

Well I do feel like I'd run faster with a knife out while my m4a1 is on my back, while it's a bit harder to run with a m4a1 in your hands. Just my opinion. I don't like the limited sprint thing at all. I lose my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mind in any game that has a limited run option.

A lot of kids play this game. I'd rather not give them ideas. I also don't like gore of the kind. We already have blood and we can't turn that off.

Well I do feel like I'd run faster with a knife out while my m4a1 is on my back, while it's a bit harder to run with a m4a1 in your hands. Just my opinion. I don't like the limited sprint thing at all. I lose my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mind in any game that has a limited run option.
Keep in mind I don't insist on adding ALL suggestions. I have my favorites (new guns, correct helmet display, fragmentation, etc), and I have those I'm okay to skip (like movement thingy)

This could mean a lot of copyright issues. As long as it doesn't break copyright we are in need of some new player models. Especially arctic models on maps like office for example, also girls in the game, but please, please don't make their model smaller than the man. Even if the hitbox is the same it's harder for me to hit something when it looks smaller. Also, we should be able to pick our model the way we were in cs 1.6.

Sure, options are good. It's just that the more options the slower the game is and it makes it hard for people with low end pcs to play.

rpg for terroist as a 1 shot weapon costing 15000+ so it can only be brought basicly last round when everyone buys troll weapons anyway. also its spray pattern when shot has to be inaccuate (flying all over the place) or it would be op.

hey they added a zeus that bascily counters any knifer. dont see complaints

I would also like a Cold Steel Magnum Tanto IX Damascus Steel. Like what they were thinking? "OK, we made knife finishes: Case Hardened, Stained, etc. We're done here!" No, you've forgotten the Damascus Steel!! SG 553 with this finish was such a stupid idea.

I mean it kind of does because csgo has a very small group of developers. so if theyre working on fixing other game modes of play it wont fix the ones that are more true to cs.

arms race is absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. it just rewards players for running around spraying for their life. i actually do worse if i try and aim.

You dont have to make a complex, all-encompassing, serve-everyone kind of product for it to be good. In-N-Out literally sells hamburgers, fries, and shakes and they're the best burger join in California, they beat out McDonalds, Burger King, Carls Jr. and the likes because they keep it simple and do simple the best.

also to understand the cs community you have to realize that we dont like change that much. its a good product if they just work on a few things. theres a huge dislike for cod in the csgo/cs community for a reason.

I play CS since launch. I understand how you feel about devs not being able to fix current issues. I feel like if they ever manage to fix current issues that are really important they could look into other stuff.
