Do skins get worn out?

Can someone explain this to me easily as I have been wondering for a while, do skins get worn out? And how do they look if they do? I got a factory new weapon and I heard from some guy that if I play with it alot then the skin can get worn out and some other guy told me that factory new weapons stay factory new, so what am I to believe?

Hello, i dont know but, i have two AK-47 Case Hardened (Well-Worm), go my profile and see screenshots they look different, how they can look different if they same quality (well-worm)?

Some weapons are bugged or just made lazily and two different qualities look the same.

Valve has made that thing. Some battle scarred look like minimal wear. The weapon might have some different visuals and its just random and its not a bug. It is made by valve.

The quality determines the amount of "wear" put on the texture. Scratches and dirt, basically. The location and quantity of these imperfections are randomized, but never change. If you are lucky, it is entirely possible to get a skin that looks much better than its quality would indicate, due to the random nature of how wear is placed on the skin.

There are basically 2 types of skins: Those with randomized textures and those with set patterns. Case Hardened guns and knives are an example of the former and Asiimov guns are an example of the latter. Neither will ever change their randomized texture or set pattern.

Basically, whatever your item(s) look like now, they will look that way forever. (Barring Valve changing how skins work in the future, which is unlikely.)
