Microphone volume too loud after launching

Whenever I skype with friends my microphone volume is set at a certain level. However every time I launch CS:GO the microphone volume seems to maximize itself. With the volume all the way up my friends hear a loud static like sound and I have to turn it back down. Is there a solution to my problem?

Go to:
1. Steam> SteamApps> Common> CounterStrike:GO> csgo> cfg> config

2. Open the config with Notepad or Notepad++

3. then go to the top of notepad and click Edit> Find Next

4. Type this line in: voice_mixer_volume "1.0"

5. change to the ammount you want.
1.0 = 100%
0.50 = 50%
0.25 = 25%

6. Then save the config file.

what is a good % for all of you that have fixed the problem? it does this for me too, what would seem plausable? and also, how does the csgo volume affect the skype volume?

Hey I change the amount I want (to 0.25) but as soon as I launch CSGO it automatically changes the number back to 1.0. DO you know what the issue is here? you seem like quite the guru

Hi, this doesn't seem to work for me. When I'm launching the game it still sets my microphone volume/level/sensitivity to 100%, any ideas why? Thanks.

The default config folder has changed.

It would be best to add the voice_mixer_volume to your autoexec anyway; the config is usually changed/overwritten.

HELLO I KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM NOW!

You need to go into CS:GO, open up the console and type in "voice_mixer_volume 0.75". You change the decimal to the percentage you want (60% = 0.6).
