Not all
Chess,Checkers, Darts, Snooker, Archery, Golf, Shooting etc
All of them require little movement and are as valid as other sports
They are simple movements, it's not "intensive". And original subtopic was about sportsmen with suboptimal weight. There are and have been plenty of sportsmen that are overweight or simply considered living a "not healthy" livestyle.
they didn't ask how you define it, they asked if you like it. say whether or not you like it.
very sad to see it working once again
Also eSport is officially seen as spirt for over 10 years now. I remember back then it was officially seen as that and every newspaper was filled with that. And also a lot of professional sport institutes who for example play footbaln on the highest level have a team for eSport aswell.
One example:
https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/FC_Schalke_04_(E-Sport)
That is one of the biggest sports clubs in the world and they also have an eSports team since 2016 in Fifa, LoL and former PES.
It isn't even a discussion. You overthink way too much. Esports exists and eSport is sports. And everyone who played any sport on a professional level like me knows why it is seen as sport. Casual people completely forget what awareness it takes to be professional in either esport or a non-intensive-moving sport. The brain is working a lot in spirts like poker, chess or counter strike and it is proven that you burn a lot of calories when doing stuff like that. Obviously not as much as running 12 km in a football match in 90 minutes while sprinting 30 times and having physical duells with other player etc. but still.
That is the sad part, something we can call dunning kruger effect. People who aren't part of something on a high level don't understand that thing. That's also why many think football player usually are seen as less intelligent while studies have shown that football player are very intelligent because they have to think forward in three demensional space and understand the deepth of field very well.
Tl:dr
Esports is officially seen as sport, those who disagree just have dunning kruger effect who never had any connection to any professional sport either as an active player/person nor nearby it. That isn't up to doscussion. What is up to discussion is if you like CS as an eSport or not and everyone can have their own opinion about it. In my opinion it is very attractive to watch like football, icehockey and other stuff. What I don't like for example is handball, basketball etc. and that's again just personal taste.
Getting better at one thing, can also help build confidence to try to be better at other things.
I know I can't go pro, never could in 'real' sports either, but getting better at something is rewarding and I find that working with a team, to accomplish a goal, is fun.
Esports opened this door for a lot of people, who might not be born with the physical abilities to compete in 'real' sports.
When I look at many pro games, I see a few guys who might not have the athleticism to make money from physical sports.
I really think that's awesome.
Sponsors are a necessary part of this, but I don't like seeing partnerships with things like gambling sites and recruitment for governments.
I'm happy when I have teammates around my own skill-level, that want to teamwork and the game isn't a stomp to either side.
I also don't watch it as much as physical sports like soccer (football) and (ice) hockey. But I don't think it's any less legitimate.
I agree.
