Fundamentally, it will always be possible to implement aimbots and wallhacks. The only way to fully remove that is by drastically altering the game, controlling everything about players' computers or taking away online multiplayer.
My hope would be that they're trying to solve some "classes of problems" that make the different flavours of cheating possible. Things like trust factor are already in that direction (even if their effectiveness is dubious at this point).
But if you see my other thread adjacent to this one (about randomizing stuff) it's a similar idea: the billion dollar company vs. the cheat developers, who will run out of energy first in an actual battle?
i only read some of what you wrote here and that was more than enough to understand how bleep bleep bleep. you already know.
no one is ever talking about getting rid of every single cheat in the game. literally no one ever means that ever when they talk about this stuff.
But if a company does even the bare minimum to reduce the cheater count, it would mean less cheaters more often the time. That is a win win for anyone playing the game.
Building anticheats always entails reverse engineering cheats lol.....
Being on the edge of what is on the market with your VAC updates means less cheaters per game more often.
NO one is ever talking about removing cheating completely. The conversation is always about reducing the amount that it happens as much as possible. obviously valve is far behind and there is literally no good reason nor excuse that exonerates them.
Look at the devs behind valorant. They are doing mostly everything that could possibly be doing to keep cheating at very small levels. And don't you dare say "BU BU BU BU THEY CAN USE EXTERNAL HARDWARE CHEATS THAT ARE UNDETECTABLE" not only is that not true but that spits in the face of the talented anticheat devs on the valorant team. There are ways to detect externals. Externals aren't the end of anticheats. The only thing that is the end of competitive gaming is when companies become so lazy that not only do they not care about how garbage their anticheat system is but they also do not care about how mechanically broken their game is also. That's pretty much every triple A game company these days so what do you expect.

okey doke thanks
Exactly. Only a small amount of effort would knock out 80% of the cheats. Most people are only using the top 5 cheats.
Its only incompetence and greed that stops Valve from doing it.
Valve, and other anti cheat makers did this and still do, with the free ones. But the paid ones require you to send in a drivers license or some kind of id to verify who you are, for this exact reason.
Not to mention the cheats they sell usually have RAT capabilities and they can snoop your computer while using it, I imagine.
These people are already cheating in a game, I dont think personal boundarys exist with them.
With that being said. Its gob smackering amazing that there are all these free cheats openly hosted on github being used by thousands of people.
Makes me wonder anyway.
I'm fairly confident to say that valve certainly has the ability to acquire paid cheat software. either through someone who has already provided their identity or by spoofing information to acquire it.
I wonder how the valorant devs do it?
sheesh.
Makes me wonder to, seems there is a clrea lack of will behind this pattern.
this is the future, literally have seen 1 cheater in 500+ hours at 17k elo, and the match got cancelled within 5 rounds. so 5 rounds total with cheaters after thousands of rounds. pretty stellar, better than any other multiplayer game out there.
You'd think, but his uses his money to buy chocolate bars instead.
