Counter-Strike 2

View Stats:
The (only) Steam Achievement "This Is Counter-Strike, too" shows that only 19.3% of the playerbase has it
So less than 20% of the current playerbase has the free achievement from carrying over from CS:GO to CS2, what does this mean?

Did 80% of CS:GO players say "NOPE" and refuse to even try the new version? Seems unlikely.

Or is it that the lack of an effective anti-cheat caused a huge influx of new smurf accounts that now makes up the majority of the playerbase 6-7 months after release?

Hmmmm...

Arent all csgo accounts automatically upgraded to cs2 accounts?

Majority of those 80% are abandoned/vac/game banned accounts from csgo?

A lot of people have stopped playing games since cs go came out. I have people on my friends list who haven't been on in years.

The 19.3% is only among players who have played CS2 from CS:GO, you have to pro-actively play the game (CS2) to get the achievement. Simply having CS:GO in your inventory does not activate the achievement so your friends who have no played in years would not count.

CS:GO is more than 10 years old, so there are a lot of players who have completely stopped playing the game, even before CS2 release.

See my previous reply: they're not being counted. You only get the achievement if you play CS2, you don't get it simply for having CS:GO you have to actually play the new game.

So this means that, despite Valve killing CS:GO and forcing all CS:GO players into CS2 and thus former CS:GO players made a percentage of the playerbase much higher than 20%. But since then, those players who came over from CS:GO are not VASTLY outnumbered by accounts that never played CS:GO at all.

It is that CS2 is suddenly more popular than CS:GO ever was?

Or is it that Valve's gamblebox policy which openly encourages smurfing combined with the complete failure of VAC to deal with the now massive cheating problem?

Clearer now?
