1) why do people keep talking about OP = OverPowered? i don't see how any of this is related to OP.
2) never heard of "hitscan" and i've been in gaming industry since mid 90s
3) i agree that hitreg is messed up in cs2
4) someone said that cs2 should have "if i shoot someone on my screen, they should die" system, that's extremely exploitable. what if a cheater simply sends a packet to server saying "i hit the guy"?
i have seen this being exploited in games like dayz mod, where a cheater can enter server and send a "kill switch" packet that kills all other players. is this what you want in cs2?
5) csgo/cs2 have never had actual "bullets", there's no bullet drop and nothing actually flying. hits are instant, which is why it is impossible to kill eachother with bullets. i mean a moment where both players fire and both die, this is impossible in cs2 and was impossible in csgo aswell, because bullets have no travel time.
6) csgo did not have hitreg problems, whoever shot first, got the kill, there was no "ghosting" or shots that appeared like they hit, but didn't. they just need to bring back what they used in csgo. i used to play csgo on pro level between 2012 to 2015, NEVER had issues with hits not registering and i was playing on wifi.
i'm on stable connection in cs2, been playing since late 2023 and i constantly have issues that hits don't register. my ping is stable below 30ms, mostly below 20ms, yet i get this issue all the time.
i even made a video on it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bs26M9sGlqk
some say "bullet punch", but there's no such thing, because i shot first and you can see my tracer go right thru the enemy. i NEVER had this issue in csgo, therefore cs2 is broken.
they simply need to sync player movement with server and remove this nonsense sub-tick crap. there are also some packet smoothing options and other nonsense to help higher ping players .. this just needs to get removed.
if you don't have stable internet, you shouldn't play online games that require precision. cs2 is one of the most internet intensive games ever, in most shooters only generic data is being sent, but cs2 sends every tiny bit of movement data, it means every time you make small movement with mouse, this data is sent over internet.
it's basically like remote-controlling another PC, every input is sent to server.
they simply need to synchronize it better, so you don't see a hit on your screen if there was no hit.
i think reason why lot of hits don't register, is because of visual lag. on your screen it appears that you're still alive, but actually you're not. i believe this is coming from the sub-tick system.
that's why in most pvp games when you're lagging, you see only yourself rubber-banding, but others see you move normally, but usually just running into a wall or not reacting to things. this is how it should be. if you lag, you have a rubber-band moment, but cs2 has tried to reduce rubber-banding with sub-tick, which in return makes it look like hits don't register.
@Valve JUST CHANGE IT BACK TO HOW IT WAS IN CSGO! it was PERFECT.
also @Valve DO NOT FIX SOMETHING THAT WASN'T BROKE!
