Can't Alt+Tab back into the game

Sound still works just cannot tab back into a game. This happens maybe 40% of the time sometimes b2b.

Very frustrating since the only option is to quit the game from steam and launch again, leading to hauling an ongoing game / being unable to accept the match.

How is this still a thing, such a joke...

Play the game in borderless fullscreen if you alt tab that frequently.

I don't have such a problem, only when I alt tab during loading or starting up the game and even then only sometimes,
so the most likely issue is that you have something installed on your system or something configured in a weird way that it causes this issue.

You can try finding the issue but reinstalling Windows is going to be easier.

However playing in Fullscreen Windowed on Nvidia (maybe on AMD too but not sure, didn't test) is the same as Exclusive Fullscreen regarding input lag when the game's window is filling up the whole screen and isn't overlaid by anything, but you can alt tab easily, so you might want to try if that works better for you

Edit: Regarding "but it doesn't happen in other games" argument — most other games nowadays lie to you when you choose "Full screen", they are actually doing what this game does in Fullscreen Windowed (borderless fullscreen) mode.

you need at least 32 gb of ddr5 ram to alt tab without problems

The problem happened to me , and in my understanding is your GPU used by cs2 is being used also by some other software , in my case the MPC video player used some GPU and did this problem to me... so make sure cs2 is the only GPU consuming application you are running.

I still get input lag + i want to play 4:3

edit: I also doubt the issue is on my side but if you have any speculation for why this might be happening im down to listen

If this is true, it might be due to wallpaper engine toggling on / off whenever i alt tab from a fullscreen window. Will try without WE running in the bg.
