Help please...shader 3.0

Hi , a friend got ati radeon x800 series and when he goes to launch CS : GO , It says that his graphics card doesn't support shader model 3.0 . I checked that he has DirectX 9.0c installed , which has shader 3.0 , all drivers all up to date .

Graphics Card : Ati radeon x800 series
OS : Windows XP

Anyone can help with that please?

the x800 series graphics cards can only handle shader 2.0b

That card is ANCIENT. I had one in my first build. Somewhere about 10 or 12 years ago. No doubt in my mind that card doesn't support shader model 3.0. You will not be running CSGO on that.

You don't understand shaders at all from your statement. Software(DirectX) support for SM3 does not mean the HARDWARE has SM3.

Ok thanks , there was directX 9.0c installed and i though it could run .
