2014 iMac 5K Retina Display
Hey Steam Community, I recently bought a 2014 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display with:
- 4.0 GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 4.4Ghz
- 8 GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4 GB
- 512 GB Flash Storage
- AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4 GB GDDR5

What's the best video setting for 2014 iMac 5K Retina Display?

I tried using this setting recommended by the link below but with 5120x2880 resolution and my FPS is 40-50. The setting below was meant for MacBook Pro Retina Display.

^ I ran the same setting except with a resolution of 1980x1080 and my FPS is 220-240. It runs smoothly but I was hoping I can play CS:GO on 5K. 4 GB graphics card is the highest Apple offers on their iMac Retina : (

For your display, I'd use 2560x1440.

Not with your settings.

5k is more than 7 times the amount of pixels. That's... quite a lot, and especially for some mobile GPU which pretty much has slightly better performance than a GTX 660.

So, nope. There's no way, except you seriously turn down every setting.

I turned down every setting and my computer still can't run 5K CS:GO smoothly (FPS 80-100).

Could it be that a 5k Mac just isn't meant for 5k gaming?

I'm pretty sure CS:GO for Mac has MANY technical issues since I also play on Mac, there's no way it can't run smoothly on 5K as many other games run fullspeed on both 4K and 5K, including graphical intensive games like BF3 and BF4. It's probably because of the game using a recompiler for the Mac version.
And yes this is a necro but seeing how easy it is to find this as a result on google, I'm posting anyways
