I had the same issue on Windows 10.
(caused by the idea of deactivating "unneccessary" services)

If you configuered your autorun services recently, try to check, if you find any disabled nVidia (or AMD) services, reenable it and restart your computer.

How?
  • press "Windows" + "R"
  • write "msconfig"
  • confirm
  • switch to Services
  • scroll down and tick every disabled nVidia services (or AMD)
  • restart your computer

You don't need to install device software to do this.

Go to device manager, uninstall your dsiplay drivers. Then at the top under one of the tabs choose scan hardware and it should update automatically.

In Windows 10 check "Disable fullscreen optimizations" in Compatability tab.
