I am aware of the mvp/round wins component of the system, but I believe that game loses are also counted. Surrendering will likely count all remaining rounds as loses, you lose the ability to get MVPs, and you have two game loses counted against you as well.
I know things like RWS allow for you to leave at halftime without penalty, but Valve's implementation of ELO may not be so forgiving for surrenders.
Playing 4vs5 doesn't always mean you lose.
Who knows, Valve might even introduce cooldowns for people that surrender :D
so if you are winning and 1 of your teammates abandon, you better surrender
