Surrender. Loss/Win/Doesn't count?
If a teammate abandons and we surrender, does it count against me?

I am not sure, and others may correct me, but I believe a surrender of ANY kind is factored in as two losses towards your rank

if you surrender you're giving up , and if you give up what is that ? why it's quitting , or aka a loss

the elo (rank points) system works on round wins and mvps, surrending early will stop you losing elo points in the further rounds. if your getting rekt and its a 4v5, surrender

I am aware of the mvp/round wins component of the system, but I believe that game loses are also counted. Surrendering will likely count all remaining rounds as loses, you lose the ability to get MVPs, and you have two game loses counted against you as well.

I know things like RWS allow for you to leave at halftime without penalty, but Valve's implementation of ELO may not be so forgiving for surrenders.

well imo... A surrender should not count as a loss b/c it's not your fault that someone decided to leave 1st round of MM...

a surrender counts as 2 losses

Surrender counts heavier than losing because you give up even trying to win your match.
Playing 4vs5 doesn't always mean you lose.

Who knows, Valve might even introduce cooldowns for people that surrender :D

if he surrenders and is loosing like 8 1 the match will end as 16 1 the penalty is much higher dont surrender

what if the other team surrneder? because it dosent count as a win for me :\
yes you lose all your elo and your rank turns into silver 1

no it doesn't count. That's why you can only surrender when a team mate abandons. Surrender is like saying cancel the match. So whenever someone leaves, just surrender.

if you surrender, your elo rank is count based on current score
so if you are winning and 1 of your teammates abandon, you better surrender
