Does this game even have a story to it?

Terrorists do terrorist things and CTs try to stop them. 1.6 had summaries of what maps were about, but not much more than "terrorists are trying to blow up a VIP's safehouse" or the like.

There story is very deep and philosophical with many crossing story structures. Who are we, why are we here, who is good and who is bad? All comes together when you complete the game.

There actually is a pretty deep stroy behind a lot of the maps, and places they are inspired from. However there isnt a central story or theme to CS. It's like any other arcade shooter (Quake Live / Reflex), its like asking of chess has a story.

Chess is the story of two warring kingdoms and the choices a king must make on which lands to hold or conquer and who he must sacrifice to save his kingdom. It's really quite deep and....

Yeah, that's about all the story there is for CS too. You are either holding hostages, planting a bomb to destroy a key location or defending against either. Unfortunately, this crap happens all the time in the real world. CS is just a reflex shooter that used that premise for design.

Agree that games doesn't need a story. Every single CS games, 1.0,1.6,CZ,CS:S don't have story. CZ initially had story line campaign, but when Turtle Rock Studios taken over as joint developers with Valve, those mission were removed. Those missions are called "Deleted scenes".

CSGO doesn't really have much more than a theme and concept, there's no particular stoyline for the world. Maps have summaries and are occassionally based off of real battlegrounds, but that's all.
