Scammed out of $1000 worth of CS:GO items, through an executable.
Some people who I trusted gave me a legit-looking executable for (supposedly) some website log-in, related to a group/clan application.

Was it stupid of me? Yes.
Was it obvious? No.

I then got blocked and removed from the persons friends list, and then realised that my entire accounts items that were tradable, were stolen.

The main items included were:
- M4A4 | Howl (Minimal Wear, with no scuff marks on the grip) $300~ (Going up)
- AK-47 Vulcan (Minimal Wear) $60
- M4A1-S Cyrex (Factory New) $80
- Butterfly Knife Blue Steel (Factory New) - $450

Along with more.

After looking through my trade history, I saw that the items were automatically sent to someone ELSES account, ran by the same person, used for transporting stolen items, from there (keep in mind, this is one account of many he uses) he traded all of my items, to his account, except my M4A4 | Howl.

From there, his items kept changing, and progressing, he collected more items from scamming people, including a StatTrack Huntsman Knife Full Fade.

He bet with the skins, and tried to sell them.

After a while, his skins, and some of the ones he stole from me started to disappear. A couple of days ago, his whole inventory went black which leads me to wonder.

Did Valve lock his inventory? Or did he take the items to another account?

I checked his transporter account and there were none of the items he had on his account were there, only other scammed items.

TLDR: Got scammed out of HEAPS of money, want to know if I'm going to get my items back, and what chance it will be. Scammer used a transporter and after a while, his main acc items disappeared, and I wonder if Valve took them or not.

Please help.

So, a small group/clan goes through the trouble of programming a client and setting up a database for signing up instead of just using a simple registration feature on the website itself?

even moreso he used the same information.. I don't know how you could fall for this regardless of if they were people you trusted.
And no, you won't get anything back especialyl since you don't appear to have sent a message to steam support.

It's your own fault, you won't get your items back. But you can submit a support ticket just in case.

My bad, I forgot to mention.

I have reported these profiles and contacted Steam Support, and waited approx. 3 days.

How long should I expect until something changes, if it does?

I'm not certain, however as long as you've not been scammed and refunded before steam may refund your items.

You are an idiot... Download the Anti Virus Software, Malware Bytes it scans in .bat files so it picks up the inventory stealer.exe file and contain it..

Valve needs to incorporate more security into Steam because these scams are getting ridiculous. I know we are responsible for our account security, but it is not that easy when Valve doesn't give us the ability to make our account more secure.

We should be able to password lock our game library and all trades with passwords for each, seperate from our Steam login.

They also need to add an optional two-factor authentication to your Steam login.

I agree the new trade rules they have added which keeps an item in your inventory for 7 days is sloppy.. i was going to purchase a Dragon lore today however the 300 Keys are steam guarded until the 16th... now im stuck with the fact if Dragon Lores rise.... im screwed
