How do I choose a loadout?
Yes, this will be the nood question of the year ;)

I keep trying to get into this game, but there's one thing that, to my surprise, I can't figure out - how exactly do I configure my loadout? I mean... I've played other shooters before and something as simple as selecting your primary and secondary weapon was so... obvious, that I can't wrap my head around the fact that I can't do it here.

So far, I figured out that with F1 I can turn random weapon selection on and off, but if I turn it off, I end up always spawning with 1 pistol and a knife. That's it.

When I go to the "Inventory" section and the "Loadout", I would think that's where I could select which weapon should be my primary and which the secondatry, but I just can't figure it out. Some have one checkbox, some have two, but I can't even check/uncheck them so... please help me out here, this is ridiculous.

This isn't cod. You earn money for getting getting kills and doing the objectives. After you get money you can buy guns to use during a round. If you die with a gun, you spawn back next round with a pistol and a knife.

So... at first I have absolutely no way of selecting a weapon until I earn money and once i earn money then I have to buy a weapon which I can only use during one round and the first time I die, it's gone forever?

I know this isn't CoD and frankly, I've never played any CoD game before ;) but still - every other shooter has some sort of a loadout system, right?

No. Only mainstream shooters have that.

Everything else you seem to understand. It's what makes CS special and much more tactical. To answer your other question, the "loadout" page is for swapping skins and several weapons out for other ones.

You can swap M4A4 / M4A1 , TEC-9 / CZ75 , 5-7 / CZ75, USP and P2000.. maybe another with the pistols but I always forget.

There's still some form of "loadout" here. In the loadout screen you can swap some guns out for other variants (such as M4A4 and M4A1-S). As mentioned earlier, these weapons would then show up in the buy menu in the same spot as the weapon you just replaced. After you die your gun doesn't necessarily disappear since another player (teammate or enemy) can pick it up and use it in following rounds, essentially giving them a free gun.

it's like that for everyone, first round you only have enough money for pistols, if you win the round you earn money, even if you lose but you gain less money then you can get a variety of gun to buy, you earn money by killing the enemies. If you buy a gun and survive the round you keep it for the second one, but you do not earn money. If you have more questions you can add me and i will do my best to help you to the game.

OK so I'm looking at the menus now and... I can't find any money :) This is ridiculous, I've been gaming for over 20 years now and thsi is the first game in which I'm having issues finding some basic stuff.

I know it's not a "typical" mainstream shooter, but still - this doesn't mean that it shouldn't have some intuitive UI that makes it obvious how things work here. Weird.

It's a game that has fundamentally remained the same for well over a decade, not to be a ♥♥♥♥, but they don't really need to hold hands here.

Your money is displayed in your current match.

alright, you earn money in the game, not in the menu when you enter a casual match now the money system works

I think you'll find it's much more enjoyable than most shooters. Without it being this way 99% of the people would be sniping or using whatever FoTM loadout they can find.

This actually forces people to think about what they buy and how they intend to use it.

Well, I'm not really expecting some 2 hour tutorial with a staged scenario that guides me through some stuff, but it would be nice if there was just one paragraph of text somewhere describing the basic idea ;)

Anyway, so I started an offline match with bots just to check things out and I did found the "buy" menu now (which is available for like... 10 seconds, I select a weapon type and then a weapon. Each weapon has a "cost"... but even there I don't see how much money I currently have.

So again - I don't need a comprehensive tutorial, but this just goes beyond the very basics of interface design. I mean... if there are resources to spend, just show them in the same place where they can be spent.

@BOT Aim - Yes, but... can you now buy the same type of weapon every time? And if so - how is it different from getting it before the match?

Your money is displayed in the top left right below the mini map. It's also in the buy menu in the top left.

Or, you can see it by pressing tab and looking beside your name if you die.

It's unlikely you will use the same weapon every single round unless you are going with a cheap weapon like a low priced smg or shotgun. Some weapons and grenades combined will be more expensive than half of all the money you could accumulate through the entire game.

OK, I figured it out now and... I admit, it's embarrassing :(

The problem was that so far I always kept selecting different game types that were NOT in the "competitive" section - and that's why there was no money displayed anywhere. Now I played a competitive round (and sucked really badly :( ) and now it all makes sense.

In fact, now I also see the tactical aspect of it - what to equip and when, use mediocre gear until your team falls back and then get something better, always go for the best, try to master a cheap weapon etc. All makes sense now :)

So thanks everyone for the help.

PS. No, I'm not a troll, I actually just wasn't familiar with this game. I know, it's hard to imagine ;)

This game is alot about Training and knowledge, its very important to know how the economy System works and when its time to buy and when its time to do an ecoround.
In Lowranks you will often see Players buy every round, which isnt the way to go. :)

And if you Play competitive dont Forget to buy Kevlar, newbies tend to not about it xD
