So, no it's not about just being good enough, you also need your team to win
And that, in my opinion is a flaw with the ranking system
I've just argued my whole post about this and I don't understand how it could be the only determining factor? :D
I mean, if you get 2 times more kills each game on your rank than any other player on the game, but your team loses, your rank won't advance. How is that only about individual skill?
Yeah, well the thing is this is not only based on one game. I win about 2 out of 3 games I play. The thing still is, your team is required to win in order for you to rank up. And of course, this has to happen more than once. However, if you play well a billion games, but lose most of them due to terrible teams, you won't rank up no matter how well you play. Therefore it ain't about individual skill! It is about whether your team will win or not in the long run.
Exactly what this guy says. Exactly this.
Given enough games, the only determining factor is whether your team has or has not won enough games. NOT your individual skill. I don't understand how hard it is for you to understand that it does not matter if you're the best player on earth in CS:GO, but if your teams always fail to lose, you will not rank up. And what the main point of my post is, that your rank should advance even if your team loses, if you played well enough for the past games.
The thing is... you're acting like your own personal performance doesn't have any impact on whether the team wins/loses... it does. It has a direct impact on whether your team wins/loses.
I started off a few months ago on this game and got put into Silver II. Fair enough - i did most of my learning in comp. As i started to get better, i started to be able to effect the games i played more and more, so that i have now managed to get to GN2. By this, i mean that my 25-30-35 kills I was getting where pushing my team over the finishing line and was able to win more than i was losing at that skill bracket.
I didn't have to go on massive streaks to rank up... just win more than I lost on average. I also tried to get as many stars as possible along the way, along with a reasonable KDA (although everyone has games where they aren't on it at all and struggle to get into double figure kills). I even ranked up on a drawn match once (From SEM or GN1) - because that's how ELO works. Not just wins and loses, but also personal skill (amount of stars, KDA ratio and how much your opponents are compared to your team).
I don't comment on these forums really, just read them, but I had to say something on this because i've experienced this.
Basically - if you're playing as well as you say you are - you will rank up. Maybe try not to go off alone in games when you have a weak team, but try and supplement them. Don't rush B on DustII if the others have gone A. Go support the weaker players. You'll turn some losses into wins by doing this.

Chance is random, so someone could get bad teammates and lose everymatch or get good teammates and get carried and win every match. It probaly dosen't happen to many people but it is possible.
