150 FPS cap in Nvidia with 144 Hz monitor - stable 6.7 ms with no ups and downs .(2K resolution on high settings )
1) don't run unlocked fps, this always causes issues. unlocked fps is like revving a ferrari on first gear and wondering why it's slow and overheating. it can cause high ping aswell, cuz your hardware is under 100% load and it could affect network adapter aswell when so much power is constantly drawn.
could be due heat aswell, cuz your pc is under 100% load with unlocked.
unlocked fps is for stress testing purposes only, just like a car is not suppose to be driven at 100% revs at all times, even race cars overheat and break on tracks with long straights.
i remember the half-oval track that was introduced to F1 and most teams had to quit cuz their tyres were not designed to take the pressure and during practice runs their tyres started popping due extreme stress from that oval straight.
same goes for PC, if your PC is under 100% load all the time while playing, it will cause all sorts of issues. this is why you should NEVER run unlocked fps.
2) it could be due something running on background that updates or does some other spy-related stuff. if you're on win11, there's too many things that do this on regular basis.
disable all kind of auto updates for everything (fine on steam as steam won't update when you're in a game), but every other program and windows itself, doesn't care if you're playing, they just hog internet on background and can cause lag.
for windows, i suggest get O&OShutUp10++, it's amazing small free tool that can disable all sorts of annoyances on windows, including lot of spy-related stuff that runs on background and hogs resources. there's one for 11 aswell, google it.
3) make sure you don't have some weird power saving or other modes enabled on your network adapter. i once had asus dual-band wifi adapter, which was really fast on 5ghz. 5ghz wifi goes up to about 150mb/s (megabytes per second) and has very low ping aswell. ping between router and adapter was below 1ms, but it had some weird power-saving mode that started throttling, i disabled it... but then within couple months it started overheating and still broke. some adapters are just BAD. asus is usually good, but this one was garbage. it was driving me mad, i couldn't figure out why it does that, but i think it was just bad design or faulty adapter.
4) could be some other network related issue. like bad connection or router settings. for example virginmedia in UK has extremely bad modem-routers, they're real trash. they put their trash firmware on it, which breaks the router. it sometimes randomly just turns off or disconnects for 1-3 seconds.
best way to analyze your network, is to use cmd command "ping steampowered.com -t" and leave that window open on other monitor (if you have one) or on background, as soon as you have lag happening in a game, look at that cmd window and see if ping is stable.
if ping in cmd is stable within +-3ms fluctuation, then you can rule out network issues, however if ping in cmd has "timed out" or fluctuation is more than like 20ms every time you lag in a game, then it's definetly network related.
then you have to analyze it further and check where the issue is.
if you're on shared network, it could be someone else hogging the network aswell. if that's the case and you have access to router, throttle the connections.
for example i currently have 350mbit here, but we've limited it to 100mbit per connection so others can't hog all the bandwidth.
edit: keep in mind that cs2 is one of the most internet intensive games, cuz it doesn't just update player locations, but also their precise movement. the amount of data that is being sent/received is insane compared to other similar games.
for example when you move your mouse so your character turns, all that data has to be sent to server and received by other players. in cs2 everything about player is updated 50+ times per second, every tiny movement.
that's why smaller network issues don't usually show up in other online games.
