Is it worth opening older cases?
Hi there just a quick question for you.
Now when the newest case is onthe market is it worth opening old one? Like Chroma 2, Operation Phoenix etc.?
I mean ... is it still possible to drop something rare or better than 0.04€ gun? When newest case is on the market are the chances for good drop from older cases lower or still the same?
I hope you understand my question and thanks for the answers!

There's always the chance of getting ie. a knife from older cases.
Those skins don't dissapear, however the odds of getting a good skin might be different,
as some skins are valued higher than others.*

wrong, chances stay the same and so do odds.

I find that opening older cases can be better because I find they have better skins and are the OG.

It's really your choice...

1-Covert Cases tend to have less expensive items in them.

The only "old" case that's REALLY helpful is Bravo, which has the Serpent in it - but that case costs $5USD.

.-. if anything he should try his luck with a cobblestone case

It's never worth it to open any case, statistically you will always lose money! So the answer to the question is no. Are there good drops in old cases? Yes, there certainly are!

The chance for drops doesn't change at all, they remain the same even when new cases are getting out. The price depends on the rarity of an item. New item are rare because less case have been open hence, less people have those weapon.

That's why new cases are worth more. In the long run, most cases are equivalent except some that have more chance to get bad skins, because the high value skins in the case are for weapons people don't like or just look really bad.

Well, It's been proven that you'll earn a profit eventually. It takes around $7,500 on average to break even tho. (note: this is based on several mass unboxing videos and a couple of drop statistics sheets.)

OK, Cobblestone souvenir package isn't a Case and it's worth a lot more than other packages/cases because it has the Dlord in it. Then my remark still applies. Statistically, it's not worth to open, because you are extremely likely to lose money by purchasing Cobbelstone souvenir package to get a Dlord than to purchase it directly.

I didn't know that, you got a link to those tests? I'm surprised even with large number you break even, because Valve takes a share of the bad skins you sell. Except if you take the time to trade everything, but since time is money, still not worth it from my point of view.

True, time is money. This is only really a profit for those people who trade as a hobby anyway. Also, I didn't see the stats in any tests, that number is a rough average of every statistic sheet and video I've seen so far. The average can fluctuate between cases and I haven't had the time or info to come up with enough data to average individual cases yet.

Thanks for the answers. Well you are probably right I opened several cases and always get a low drops so i said to myself i will never buy a key for real money again. So i was selling cases which dropped me and got some money for keys, just wanted to know if I should wait for that new case or open some of my old ones like Chroma 2.

But its probably the same.

Just know that every time you open a case - it's gambling.

Don't expect much - unless you're opening 100 cases...

I have opened 100s of cases, and not once gotten a knife in my "big" case openings.
But when I opened a Breakout case once, I got a Butterfly Knife in the warmup of my competitive match.

I know its gambling that why im not giving my money to wallet anymore. Im just buying keys with money i earned from selling things that dropped me (mostly cases and skins i dont like or need).
