So CSGO has a backstory or lore now?

Title says it all. Some of the skins have a minor description and sometimes end with the name of a person, and the recent Bloodhound operation (if you own it) has 2(?) characters giving you a mission to complete in order to gain more XP and challenge stars.

those cutscenes r actually nice, mission's design and reward's system r pretty bad, but coop thingy was surprisingly nice, but perhaps too easy.

I see that this is an old thread but maybe of you're still interested I can tell you, jist found it out myself :
So the terrorists in CS;GO are a group called Pho3nix, lead by Valeria, her bodyguard being Naomi. This group want to basically destroy earth/civilization in order to have it reborn like a phoenix ( or pho3nix ;). The CTs are weird people, mercenaries hand picked from all over the world, not necessarily being the nicest people but getting the job done. Then there's this Booth guy, selling weapons to both T and CT aswell as the skins.
To be honest I was a bit disappointed about finding out that the titles we see at the end of the flavor texts like "The phoenix and the master part 2" or whatever were not actual books. Dsmn I thought I had found myself a dank legacy to read... also for some reason I assumed it takes place in the future but it's current year. Lastly sorru for typos I'm on mobile right now

Yeah the story is pretty similar to TF2 with the mercs and stuff. Idk. Guess Gaben likes mercenaries...

wouldn't the CTs be the Global Offensive? kind of a special force made to destroy the phoenix?
