Why default FPS cap is 300?
seriously, there no difference between 124 fps and 300 to my eyes.

is it just to make people buy better PCs?

Well you're right 300 fps is a lot. You can put it at 144 fps with fps_max 144

Most monitors can't even support 300 FPS, so I am not sure why people like setting it so high.

I guess they just like seeing a high numerical FPS value on their screen.

The eye CAN see more than 60. How else would you explaining noticing a huge difference in smoothness between 60 @ 60hz and 144 @ 144hz?

more fps = better 100% of the time. you can uncap your fps or cap it at whatever you like (above 60 fps)

lol depends on your mouse polling rate. My mouse polls at 1khz, so I get more control the more frames I get unless its over a 1000.

all above 100 is useless you wont feel or see a diffrence between 100 and 100 + ... even 60 is enough. Dont believe me? Make a test without knowing fps and you`ll see

i can feel the difference between 60, 100, and 200 (above that not so much). notice i said FEEL not SEE. the mouse movements dont feel as precise the lower the fps.

You may not notice the difference between 124 FPS and 300 FPS @ 60Hz. Getting a 144Hz monitor is a huge improvement if you have a minimum of 144 FPS. Also, you can still get a benefit with having more frames per second than your monitor's refresh rate in certain cases.

By the way, never listen to the people who say that no one can see more than 60 FPS. That's pure rubbish.

Make this test without knowing the fps and you dont feel the diffference .. belive me i made this test ... an i though too i "feel" a differnece of 100 and 144. the truth was no i dont feel it ...

Its not just rubish, those people should made to feel absolutely stupid. The human eye doesn't see in frames, it sees in fluid motion.
