80 OK
On some games I get a ping of 5ms. My lowest ping has been 4ms I think.
80 is playable.
Anything above 100 and I start to become annoyed.
Yeh, it has nothing to do with fibre as light can only travel so fast.
The only way to decreaseping is to move closer to the server.
I have the same ping now with a 40Mb line as I had with a 1Mb line.
I generally have a 40-100ms ping on matchmaking servers, depending on the timezone I'm playing in and where the server was located that I got put into. I don't have issues with people saying I'm rubberbanding etc.
If you have a bad ping plus you're dropping lots of packets for some reason, that would explain odd behavior. You might try running an extended ping test to the server you're connected to while you're playing and see if you're getting packet loss or are having other network related issues.
Yes, I used to use ADSL over a phone line and could get pings of 5ms on some servers.
I play comfortable on 70-150.
Most times I cant even tell the difference. If you are noticable "lagging" at 80 ping, its most definatley not your internet.
