I shoot a player and I do no damage. Why does that happen?
This happens way too often. I shoot at a player, I empty my clip, then I get killed and when the game shows the freeze frame of my killer it shows how much damage I got and that I did no damage to them, even though I was shooting right at them.

I understand there's recoil and spray, but on this latest happening I was 8 feet from the enemy, sprayed this guy until my clip was empty, and I did zero damage. I point right at the torso and no bullets hit. It seems the game doesn't register anything but a headshot. Even when I do precise shooting (one shot at a time) it still happens.

As for my ping, it's usually around 40-50.

are you running/walking when you shoot? unlike other shooters, you cant move and shoot in this game very well.

64tick

You either missed or hits failed to register thanks to latency.

With 40 latency it's impossible to tell the difference between 64 and 128 tick, because informations are processed by server faster than they are able to arrive. Even if the server was 2048 tick, it would be literally impossible to tell the difference. Nice try though.

No. I'm usually a croucher to beome a smaller target and get a better shot. It still happens.

That's probably it. It's still very annoying. I feel I should be getting a lot more kills than I am.

Most weapons take a while to get used to. Try using the more accurate ones (for example M4A1-S), so you can be sure if you keep missing with others. With some weapons it takes a lot of time to handle the spray patterns etc...

First of all did you even try playing on 128tick rate server? Please go and try ESEA or faceIT. You will notice how different the game is even if you have 40ms at your end. Most of my headshots connect by 1 bullet from AK-47. While on Valve's official MM it's more of a "spray and pray". Hitbox and damage registration on 128tick is twice as good, which makes it nearly perfect. So don't tell people that it has no difference if you haven't tried it yourself. Of course it is better to play it on lan with zero to none ms. Though ESEA and faceIT are the best solutions for real competetive play.

You should not be crouching in this game at all. It does not help with your recoil, it's far different game than CS 1.6 or CSS. You have to be stationary to have a 100% accuracy and best possible recoil. That is why you see most of people using "strafing technique" which is basically [A][D] + shift to avoid shots and make immediate stops for (tap, burst) shots. Looks simple, yet hard to master. Also do notice, CSGO uses random recoil patterns. You can learn them to certain degree, but not by 100% like you did in previous games. Please go and check spray patterns of the most used ones: Ak-47, M4A1-S.

Keep in mind, taping and bursting are superior to spraying in CS:GO. And if you are playing competetively, 64tick rate is absolute garbage in comparison to 128tick. Yet Valve keeps it to 64tick rate, since 128tick costs double of that. (You could look at it this way: It is more efficient to sustain more of 10v10 servers than 5v5.) If you want to play competetivly, check out ESEA or faceIT. Those two companies run their servers on 128tick and have way better protection than VAC. Though it costs $6 per month for ESEA and $2 for faceIT if I'm right. If you are in for a casual experience, keep playing on 64tick.

Here are some useful links for you to check and improve your gameplay:

My own tip, stop using crouch completely until you are in MG and know propertly how to use it. Most silvers/nova's aim for your chest, thus crouching exposes you for a certain headshot.

Happens to me all the time and it wouldnt bother me except the model looks like is taking bullets, so in the heat of a fire fight i might turn too early etc. CSGO is the only version since beta 0.2 that is like this for me.

64 tick server means it processes all the information at its disposal every 16 milliseconds. If the latency. If it takes 40-50 milliseconds for server to register you shooting, it means it pretty much recalculated everything two or three times, WITHOUT knowing that you fired the weapon. Even if the server made those calculations 100 times during that time, it still wouldn't know that you fired the gun and that it should register any hits. 128 tick server can't magically see the future, it's all placebo effect.

But let's stick to the topic at hand.

It would be so much better if you just would do some testing, network engineer. :Horse:

The problem is not in the network. I play with bots and don't do any damage. I shoot blank ammo. Look https://i.ibb.co/S7g1gZf/2019-05-17-12-54-38.gif

Tell me how to remove blank ammo?
