What is this 'ding' sound?

Sometimes when I'm playing casual (I don't play competitive, don't know if that matters) I hear this 'ding' sound at random moments, but I have no idea what it means.

Sometimes I hear it while in-game playing/being-dead-waiting, but also when I'm checking community stuff in steam-overlay and even in the cs:go main menu.

It kinda sounds like the killsound in deathmatch, but a bit shorter and not as loud.

I have already determined it is not any (notification) sound you can see/change in steam options (like when you get a message or something) or any of the in-game sounds you can see/change in the cs:go options menu.

I also don't think it's a windows sound, because I only hear it when I'm in the cs:go world (in-game, steam overlay or cs main menu) and it sounds a lot like dm killsound (but clearly not the same).

Anyone else have this, or know what it is? Even suggestions on what it may be are helpful.

I need to know, not knowing but still hearing it is driving me crazy(er).
And also, at this point I'm just curious ^_^

Alright guys, I thank you all for your input. If you think of anything it could be, or that I can try to figure it out, feel free to share.

you more than likely have a web browser open in the background. i cant recall but there is a csgo related website that has a ding every 20 minutes.

Ok, sorry to revive this old thread, but I still don't know where this sound comes from, and I'm still hearing it now and then.
After paying close attention I have come up with a theory, so maybe anyone knows or can test it or something.

After playing a few casual matches on assault, I noticed it again a few times. I know a couple of good wallbang spots from outside, and I heard the sound a few seconds after I headshotted a sniper inside, bottom stairs.
Also heard it a few times when I was having a lucky game, or a couple of good rounds, in casual/dm mode as well as community servers.

So I thought, maybe it's a notification sound that somebody checks your cs:go profile in-game?
Or maybe even that you get reported? (don't think that's it though, since in those games there was no indication that anyone would report me, no yelling and screaming and all that good stuff)

tl:dr I think it's the notification sound that somebody checked your cs:go profile. Anyone knows this to be true, or false? Thanks.

As stated before, it's definitely not the headshot sound. It sounds very much like the kill-sound you get in gungame (and dm I believe also) but not as loud. But it's very similar to that.

shooting metal then thats the only other sound youll hear ding unless your game files(sound files) are corrupted which can happen time to time when updates and or virus come i recommend try verfying game cache

It's a similar sound you get when killing someone in deathmatch, but not as loud. At seemingly random moments, although I have now noticed it a few times, couple seconds after killing someone, or wallbanging them. Thats why I thought it's someone checking your cs:go profile in-game.
I have no digital cs:go friends I can test this with unfortunately...

Well yeah, because it happens in casual games the most. (probably because I play that more than dm or gungame).

And I noticed it a few times after I made some nice wallbangs. My own reaction usually, when I get wallbanged, or headshotted nicely, and you go to the 1st person view of the player that killed you (casual) is to check their cs:go profile. Don't know why, but I just do. So logically other players, at least some, must do this also right?
So I'm just going to assume that's it, until someone can tell me otherwise.

Maybe I should ask an other question. Do you by any chance know, if you hear a (notification) sound when someone checks your cs:go profile in game (with 'z' or whatever button you set it to) ? Anyone?

The sound is called 'bell1'. If you type in console: playvol buttons\bell1 0.5
that's what I'm hearing. Still not sure why though..>_<

Delete the bell1 file from the game files and launch the game.
