No sound. (Would appreciate some help)
Original post 2015:
Hi - before i start ; i just want to say that my game sound was working fine the night before. When i tried to play CS:GO today i have no sound for it all.

All my other games play sound apart from CS:GO, i've checked the volume options in-game ; everything is turned up as it should be and still no sound. I've checked the developer console, increased the volume still no sound.

I checked my volume control and the game says its on full, 100% - even went into the properties of the speakers and nothing is muted and its how it should be.

I verified my game, said there was one file missing. When it downloaded and i loaded it up - still no sound.

Does anyone else have this problem or may know what the hell is wrong?

I haven't touched anything and as i said before, it was working perfectly the day before. All games, internet browser and steam itself make noises/play sound - CS:GO however does not.

also tried : snd_updateaudiocache & deleting game content and re-installing, still nada. Nothing.

I hope one of you have a fix, i'm on the verge of throwing my face into a blender.

Last edit 2016:
The fix :
open up command prompt (Run as admin) and then put this in ;

net localgroup Administrators /add networkservice

net localgroup Administrators /add localservice

This is what fixed it for me. This doesn't guarentee it will work for you.

Hmm considering what you all tried I do not have many suggestions..

Maybe go into your windows audio settings and check which one is set default and maybe try do disable all other output devices. Maybe, "maybe" somehow just cs:go is using a different output device.

I have two other output devices, both when tested do not make a noise yet the volume goes up and down as if something is playing and both cannot be disabled. It has no effect. Only one of the options work which is called "Speakers" - sound actually comes out of this and like i mentioned in the post - Everything BUT CS:GO works. :\

Hmm, when you are ingame and there is noise around you ingame do you see that your windows detects the sound? Like the green thing is going up and down?

Nope, nothing on the CS:GO menu nor in a CS game. I've checked the developer console and increased the volume but nothing happened. Also checked CS:GO audio options, everything is how it should be - dragged the bars up and down to see if that would change it incase of a glitch but nothing ; Also checked the volume mixer to make sure it wasn't muted and it wasn't - its on 100% (Full) but no sound.

My internet browser (youtube), steam itself (Messages from people) and other games (Tested H1Z1 & Mount and blade) all have game sound ; so its just CS:GO that doesn't have any sound what so ever.

Yes I understand that. But if you have your game open and you are for example in a match - you hear nothing - did you try to alt+tab out to it and look at your volume mixer at the right so see if the sound is comming through, like the green that indicated the "amount of noise" is moving up and down?

If it is just not showing any sound so no green at all it is something in your cs:go going wrong (which is my guess) otherwise It is your computer/speakers.

Yes - like i said above before your response ; was in a game and still no sound (Got a cooldown in a FaceIt match). Checked the mixer as well - which is where the green bar goes up and down, 100% volume - the max and still no response, no green bar going up or down for the CS:GO section. Everything else but CS:GO has sound.

Wauw, what the heck is going on here. I guess you already tried to simply restart your computer to see if that fixes anything?

Hi Alex, unfortunately no. If you've tried every step in this post including what fixed it for me and it still doesn't work then i have no other suggestions. Sorry. If you do manage to find out what the problem is for yourself and what you did to fix it please put it in this post for future refrence.
