Buff for shots in the back?
I hate to admit it, but my favorite weapon is the SSG 08. I know it sucks and I should use an AWP if I want to snipe, but I hate the AWP because I can't seem to hit anything with it. I can at least hit stuff with the SSG 08.

Anyway, so I have noticed that if I shoot someone in the back with an SSG 08 that normally it doesn't kill the person, but doesn't make any sense to me. I haven't compared it to other weapons like the AK or M4s, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were the same.

If you knife someone anywhere but the back, it takes 2 hits. If you get them in the back, it takes one hit. I get that its a matter of vulnerability and I'm fine with that. My problem is that if someone is shot in the back, regardless of the gun, it should do more damage than if you shoot them in the chest. Currently, that does not seem to be the case. I do recall one casual game recently where I shot one gut at least 5 times in the back and still only did about 80 damage. If I had done the same in the chest, I would have killed them.

If anyone has any insight on this, I would appreciate some input.

Good point. Just one of those things that doesn't make sense about CS:GO. Like why the CTs wouldn't just disable the bomb if the bomb carrier dropped it or throw it out of the map.

More damage from the back from bullets has never been in any of the Counter-Strike games since the 90's and adding it would be pointless and would ruin a lot of things and make it less competitive in my opinion.

I get that. I've played since 1.5, although not regularly, but I only noticed it recently so I wondered what people's opinions where.

I don't think giving the guns a slight buff (I mean maybe 5 to 10% buff) for back shots would ruin the game. I'm curious as to what exactly would be ruined. Can you give an example?

The whole reason a knife to the back is a single hit kill (in my opinion) is because that is how works in real life. I would think a single shot from an AK, SSG 08 or M4A4 should realistically be a single shot to the back for a kill in the game. I also understand that a 5% or 10% increase in damage for any of the weapons I listed wouldn't actually be a single shot kill as they still only do about 70 damage in the chest so a 10% buff would only make it about 77 damage (I know that's bad math).

"The whole reason a knife to the back is a single hit kill (in my opinion) is because that is how works in real life" What? Just... What? How would stabbing someone in the back kill them instantly in real life in every scenario? This game isn't supposed to be realistic. It is supposed to be a military/realistic THEMED tactical competitive FPS with streamlined mechanics. Adding more damage to the back would not only be completely pointless, but would essentially make enemies die faster on average, and mess up some weapon price/damage balance, and would cause an outrage from a lot of angry players.

How am I trolling? A person suggests I can't use a weapon by saying I spray said weapon, but you CAN"T SPRAY with an SSG. Its a freaking bolt action.

I'm sorry I assumed you were trolling, but commenting on a person's ability to use a weapon in a game without actually playing with said person is basically trolling in my opinion. I admit I suck at the game, but I was looking for opinions on shooting someone in the back and the damage it does. Your post contributed nothing to this thread and made an attack at how I play the game.

Spray with an SSG 08? Really? Troll failed.

lol, it isn't a troll. just because you can't comprehend words/disagree with somebody doesn't mean said person is a troll. troll harder next time.

The guy calling troll, I guess, is assuming you actually know the game. SSG 08 can't spray because it is a bolt action rifle. You are confusing it with the SG 553- the scoped automatic rifle. Silver confirmed.

Also, I think buffing shots in the back is a bad idea because it doesn't have any merit in gameplay. Knife kills are only a instant kill because the knifed player failed to hear the sound of the knife being unsheathed and allowed the enemy to get close enough to knife them. It also uses the slower and more damaging knife strike, implying that the killer is going for a killing blow such as a slice of the neck or a stab in the spine.

No, I don't think you should deal more damage with bullets from behind, it makes no sense. I think the only reason why you instanly kill someone with a knife from behind is because it's a lot harder than simply shooting someone. Plus, it allows for stealth play where you come up behind players and scilently take them out without anyone hearing it.

less armour? less muscle? not expecting it? Human bodies are made to take blows from the front much more than they are from the back.

have someone punch you in the chest then in the shoulder blade or spine, tell me what hurts more :)

Yes, well, in CS:GO you can hold whatever weapons you want, but as long as you have your knife in your hand, you are going to go much faster. This isn't real life.
real life? what do you mean by this life that is real?
