Voip does not work in CS:GO

I tried everthing I can think of.
My mic works fine in Teamspeak/skype/windows and other games.
But when I press the talk button in game I see the icon appear but there is no sound.
I also tried to do "open mic" but it also does not work.

I checked the mic setup settings and then I use Test microphone it works just fine and I can hear myself talk. The receive volume is 100%. And the device that it uses is the same one that I use in all my other voip clients.

I'm at a loss here.

It does work, but you cant hear your own voice unless you type voice_loopback 1 in console

nah I'm sorry if it were unclear but I mean other people cannot hear me. and the voice icon doesn't show the animation when it activates. which it does show for other people.

Im pretty sure they can hear you just fine

Well I've asked in several games and they don't hear me. And I can see that even though the icon for voice activation appears underneath the chat it does not go on to activate.

Oh and I forgot to add, the microphone in the lobby works just fine, I also read that this is a common issue with mac user but I don't use a mac and I never had this issue before, it has always worked fine. But I reinstalled the game a few days ago after maybe 8 months of not playing and now it's broken :S

hehe way to bump an old topic :P

to the right of the chatbox where you type there should be a littel microphone sign and that activates the lobby mic. it might be turned off if it's not on by default.

Im having this same exact ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ problem its so annoying. I see the mic but no one can hear me.

Recently this issue returned for me and I ended up testing for ages and turning on/off default microphones in the recording option and after awhile it suddenly worked again.. but I honestly have no idea what it was exactly that I did.
