CS:GO in Korea?
I recently moved to S. Korea from UK and have installed a VPN i.p. to be able to play CS:GO. I am connecting to San Francisco and the internet speeds are good: Ping -145ms; Download Speed - 5.58mbps, Upload Speed 1.29mbps.

I can connect to servers on CS:GO but i'm always around 250-300 ping no matter where the server is located. When i click to join competitive games - it fails to join saying i should increase my max ping. I set the max to 300 and still no results - (not that anyone would want to play competitive at 300 anyway.)

Can anyone help me?

Why can't you play cs go in south korea normally without the VPN? Well in any case it seems to be something with the ISP. 145 ping on speedtest.net is not a good ping. It's normal to have higher ping in cs go than what speedtest.net says. You could increase your max search ping to 350 using the console command. It's like mm_dedicated and there's 2 commands, 1 of them is gonna say search max ping. I think the full command is mm_dedicated_search_maxping 350.

There isn't much we can do about your internet, I'm sorry. There is a program that lets you select in which areas to look for servers, but again you're from SK and you're looking for servers in the US. Lag is normal. Can you find some VPN that's maybe near you?

I play CS: GO in Korea. You don't need VPN to play CSGO. Just connect like you normally would. You will connect to servers in SE Asia. While I am not positive of the locations of the servers, they are likely in Singapore/Indonesia. I play with anywhere from 90 to 200 ping.

Its probably because he wants to play with English speakers, and not the locals.

CSGO is very popular in Korea, but of course he'll be playing with Koreans if he wants a low ping match.

Koreans don't play in non-competetive match making. Also, you just have to live with the ping. Your response time might get faster if you stopped using a VPN. Either way, if you want to play with someone, your ping will probably be in the mid-hundreds or two hundreds. 90-200 ping is usually what I run into but in comp, theres always an english speaker. Most koreans really do understand the simple ♥♥♥♥ like AWP and A Long and Bomb site B.
