I noticed quite an improvement in my FPS abilities when switching from a fairly standard optical mouse to a Razer Lachesis. That was mostly playing games that require quite a bit more skill and dexterity than CS:GO though.

A lot of CS players don't recommend laser mice, and they certainly don't recommend high DPI.

It helps alot, makes aiming way more consistent provided you are set up right ingame as well as with your mouse etc. I personally use the zowie fk, which i upgraded from a razer deathadder. The difference is palpable.

It depends, different people prefer differen't kinds of mice, for example one person may find a certain mouse that costs $100 is making him play better than a certain mouse he had before which cost $10 meanwhile there may be someone else who has the exact opposite experience with the exact same mice, same goes for mouse pad, differen't people prefer differen't feels, some like as little resistance as possible and others prefer a lot of resistance etc, the feel of the material is also something that may be important for some people.
In the end, there isn't one mouse or mouse pad to rule them all, it's a journey I believe most gamers will have to take, the quest to find the right mouse, mouse pad and keyboard for them, some never find THE one but generally there will at least be one mouse that works good enough.
