Can anyone give me some insight on this matter? Trade banned.

Okay so, I've been trade banned, I have no idea why, but I suspect this is the reason. I received a trade offer the other day with a knife, and a couple of random stuff in it, he asked for nothing in return. Obviously at first I was skeptical and triple checked to make sure I wasn't getting scammed, or if it was okay to accept trades like these (I had read the steam trade rules, all of that stuff). There was no message attached to the trade, I had never spoken to the person before ever, I have never done any scamming ever before, so I accepted the trade. Anyone who has been offered a free knife would. I DO get reported from time to time from people whom I don't wish to trade with or if I refuse their offer (they get mad or whatever), but I have NEVER scam attempted. So it comes to a real surprise to me when I wake up today and have a trade ban. I trade to make money, I have goals I wish to get through trading, so it's pretty upsetting when I'm trade banned for no real reason but for accepting a trade.

All I did was accept the trade, obviously this guy probably made a mistake, and he has tried to contact me asking for it back (yes I'm a huge ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, but last time I checked it's not against the rules to be an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥), it was his mistake not mine.

I need some insight, because I'm just getting automated responses from steam support saying :

"*Steam Support is unable to remove or modify restrictions on your account that prevent you from trading or using the Community Marketplace.*".


This is not fair, I am trade banned for no reason, I never scammed anyone, all I did was accept this trade. It should not be a thing to be able to get banned for someone else's mistake. Frankly, I don't even care if they had taken back the knife, it wasn't mine in the first place so I wouldn't have cared, but why am I getting banned for it? Can I just send people stuff now and when they accept it call scam and have them trade banned even though it wasn't a scam? It's pretty stupid. Is there a way I can not get this automated response? I have proof right there of the trade so...

This random dude added me, tried SOOOOO hard to play someone he isnt, telling me I knew him, played with him before, he swears etc tec.

Asked me a bunch for me to lend him a few skins for his tournement etc.

I called him out as a scammer, blatant scammer. he goes off on saying He cant believe I accused him of this, he is an innocent person, he would never ever scam etc, and he is appalled that I would accuse him of this.

Just some random guy, some random freaking guy that added me as a friend whom iv Never played with.

Wanted me to give him skins for his Tournements lolol...

Real scam artists live a certain persona they paint, and they will never let up, this is what iv learned.

So I dont believe a single word you have said.

Valve and Steam do thorough checks, and if itt was a mistake, support can help. Get out with your post.

With your example, is the same applicable if the person giving you the 20$ is a 7 year old child who doesnt actually know any better? Somehow in your world, its that kids fault?

Let me guess though, your defense will be something along the lines of "I cant tell someones age over the internet".

So if someone overpays for my knife by 40$ I shouldn't accept the trade because they might not know better? If someone accepts something more than once, and has agreed to the terms of what they're doing or trading, that is on them, not the other person. You're now basically undermining a capitalistic society. You drink coffee? You shave right? Buy medication? Did you know all those things are overpriced by almost 300% or more, yet you still pay for them. Are those people morally bankrupt too? You sound like a hippie.
