Help - Low FPS with nVidia GTX 860m?
Yo, so according to various benchmark sites and threads I read online I was expecting to get max FPS with my specs:

nVidia GTX 860m
8GB RAM
i7-4700MQ

It doesn't go above 60 (I don't even know if the game does) and it's around 30-40 fps in the heat of battle, which is really hard to play with.

Doesn't really matter what graphics settings I use, it's roughly the same but I thought I should be able to get 60 fps at all times with these specs. My drivers are all up to date. Any ideas how I can increase my FPS?

thats a laptop so make sure that the game is using the nvidia gpu and not the on chip igp , power set to max , and that vsync is off

turn vsync off? both ingame and in nvidia driver settings.

First off make sure v sync is off, and my laptop has similar specs and I average around 200 fps so something is wrond it shouldn't go below 100 anytime.

You should turn it off Vsync from both places.

go to nvidia options next to the clock in the lower left cornor of your monitor. klick on 3d options and then global options. scroll down and deactivate vsync. instant fps boost

Thanks guys, followed all of these instructions but it hasn't really changed anything :S

disable the laptop power setting in the options. It lowers the fps on purpose to save power.

"Wait for VSync" disabled in-game, Vsync disabled in Nvidia control panel, still getting 40ish FPS in combat

Laptop power setting also disabled. Don't know what the problem is now, tried fiddling with all the video settings and nothing really changes. Don't know how people are getting 100+ FPS, mine rarely goes above 70 at best

are you sure the games running on the nvidia gpu ? sounds like its defaulting to the intel igp
ShadowKaino Sep 10, 2014 @ 3:33pm
check what your power settings are in windows. make sure its set to high performance.
ShadowKaino Sep 10, 2014 @ 3:34pm
And do what pike said

Laptop is set to High Performance, Counter-strike/Steam is set to 'only use dedicated GPU' in nVidia Control Panel . Are there any console commands that could help?
