High dpi/low ingame sens or the other way around?
hello.so i have always since the start played with 1850 dpi and an ingame sens of 1 and i heard that lowering your dpi and using ingame sens helps in creating better consistency,so i wanna know if it is better to go down dpi and high ingame or the other way around, thanks.

It makes exactly zero difference, just use whatever DPI is most convenient for your desktop usage and set your ingame sens to what is comfortable.

lower dpi and sens = better precision.

every good player uses 400 - 800dpi and 1 - 3 sens.

Higher dpi will make small movements like twitching noticeable lets say at 400 dpi you move your mouse 1 inch to the right, so it'll move about "|----|" <that much, at 800 dpi you move the mouse 1 inch but it will travel double the distance "|--------|", that is how dpi works.

400dpi on the mouse is good at the game, even in windows desktop. So just set your sense in-game after the 400dpi from the mouse.

But for example, 8200dpi on the mouse is the most pixel precise thing ever, though idk about real gameplay consistency. For that high dpi, you need in-game sensitivity of 0,114634 (assuming you use 2.35 on 400dpi).

just to make clear, for FPS games, never use lazer sensors, for obvious reasons.
the best mouses for fps have the optical sensor avago3090 and above.
CMstorm Recon / Razer Deathadder. etc etc.

the diference betwen Recon and Da is the sensor, deathadder have a little better sensor, just a little.

This might sound stupid, but how do i change my dpi?

If your mouse has it's own drivers/software you should be able to change it through their UI.

To get one specific 'end-sensitivity' there's always 2 ways; a higher DPI-value with a lower ingame-sensitivity, and a lower DPI-value with a higher ingame-sensitivity. If you narrowed down the exact 'end-sensitivity' you want, it's always better to go higher DPI with lower ingame-sensitivity to avoid pixel skipping.

If that's what you're asking OP, I hope I understood you right.

you have one of the bests mouses, and yes, lower to 800 dps and try to find a sens betwen 1 - 3

logitec g400
i use 800dpi and sens 1.872 - zoomsensitive_ration 1.464

thanks guys,i was conflicted on this matter, thank you all for helping

I find it amusing how people will still use 400-800dpi on their mouse when they could greatly increase the mouse's sensitivity and then divide their in-game sensitivity by a proportional amount, thereby gaining increased precision.

There is exactly zero reason not to take advantage of a high-dpi mouse if you have one.
