Keyboard Input Problem Only In CS:GO
Hey everyone. I'm currently having an issue with CS:GO. It happens frequently enough that I've gotten fed up with it. Basically, only when I'm playing CS:GO my keyboard would skip a key press. Or not even register it at all. This only happens with the movement keys, and like I said, It ONLY happens in CS:GO. Please take emphasis on this part because I've tested it with multiple games and even with notepad.

I'll try to explain the problem as clearly as I can, it's really weird. When I'm in CS:GO and I press a key, there's like a 5-15% chance of the key not registering. This only happens with the WASD keys. This is incredibly annoying when I'm trying to rush or move to a specific spot quickly, it makes it so I have to push the key twice or it won't register the movement.

I'd like to ask if anyone else has had or does currently have this same problem and if anyone knows any solutions for it. I'll say it again for reiterations sake, this only happens in CS:GO. It doesn't happen with any other games.

I'm having the same problem. I'll be AD/DA'ing or just strafing and it will stop or not register the next input. Just started recently. When I hold the key it will take about a second or so before it actually inputs.

I'm using a Posiden Z mechanical keyboard. Brown switches.

ok. I've used that site like you mentioned. But it's weird. I can use 4 different keys at once, but sometimes it only registers 2 key presses. But then right after it will register 3-4. O-o

Read the text on that web page.

It's the so called rollover. If it's with the same 3 keys, then it might be some driver / hardware issue. Plug the KB into another PC, try it again - same problem? KB broken.
(often it's just a lot of dirt under the keys btw)

It's a laptop... And the keyboard isn't mechanical, there's no way for dirt to get under it. ._.

Does it drop your inputs if you only press 1 key at a time?

No. Maybe. Honestly I'm not sure, but if it does it's not blatant enough for me to actually notice it.

Laptop keyboards can break, and they usually do so quite often. There's also plenty of space for dirt. (i kinda doubt you got a completely sealed heavy duty laptop, and even those keyboards have wear after some time).

Read the websites frisky and i provided. The so called rollover works this way. Test several key combinations on the site i provided, you will most likely find certain combinations that will never work together.
Otherwise it might be really just broken, if the same key registers only sporadically.

My keyboard has issues holding down more than 3 buttons; an older keyboard I had wouldn't even let me hold 3 (I couldn't Walk & move diagonally...it sucked).

Keep an eye out for it when it happens, or jump ingame and test different key combinations real quick.

So I'm having the same issue as Jack, Laptop keyboard, keys sometimes don't register, only when playing CS:GO (so far). I've tested with other games, notepad and the keytest web page provided by just.kamk, everything works fine until I get into CS:GO, I've tried reinstalling drivers and I've tried cleaning the keys (although I doubt that's the problem considering it's fairly new) It shouldn't be a problem with the rollover limit (7 key presses) and it's only started happening recently too, but not after any particular update or anything.
Has any solution been found yet?

Xomnia! I haven't actually found a definite solution for this problem, but you perhaps came from playing a lot of MMO's right? Well I developed a nasty habit of pushing more than three buttons at once from those types of games. In games like WoW or Tera you keep getting input from those keys reguardless of how many you push, but in CSGO it limits the input to 4 keys i think? Anyway, I'm not sure if there's a real issue, or if it's the way I push the keys, my keyboard works fine even if it is dirty, I'm getting perfect registration with it. So it must be human error. I found that changing the way I hold down keys to lower the number is actually improving the amount of times I see it, less and less. Hope this helped you! :D

Sticky keys or filter keys.

Jack m8 you solve this ? I have some problem :(
Jack Jul 4, 2015 @ 11:03am
Yes I solved it. It's really simple, you're holding down too many keys at once, and the last one doesn't register. You can only hold down two movement keys at a time. I'm not sure if the mouse buttons count toward this number. But that is what I've found.

The keyboard ghosting wasn't my problem at all, as it would stop me from pressing as little as 2 at the same time, in the past I've experienced at least 5 keys simultaneously before it ghosted, I contacted support and told me to follow these instructions
Please restart your computer and then follow these instructions to refresh your Steam files: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=3134-TIAL-4638
Once completed, please verify the game's files: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335
