Why are case keys sold in the steam market (more expensive)?
Title says all.

Why are case keys sold in the steam market more expensive when u can easily buy them directly and official from Valve / Steam (In-Game)? It is even a bit cheaper if you buy it the official way.

So ... is there any myth or something that says that "official keys" are dropping more often bad items than keys from the steam market? ... Or anything else? :D

Please let me know, thanks! :)

Valve takes about 13% off the market price for themselves as a transaction fee.

So, if you wanted to sell a key for a in-game price you'd get about:

2,15€ - 0,13*2,15 = 1,87€ in your wallet

It's more expensive on the market because the steam market takes a bit for every sale... I'm guessing people are selling keys on the market because keys are used as a currency in trades...
The real question is: Who is buying these market keys? It's not many purchases, but at least a few hundreds per key type every day...

Probably people who don't own CSGO and can't buy keys in game. I don't see another explanation :P

This makes sense, i did not think about this. Thanks :P

But i also can't understand (just as nevr3000 said) why people are buying these keys from the steam market - they are more expensive. They could easily buy them cheaper In-Game, but they do not take this little advantage. :cgrazz:

You can't sell case key in steam market. The question should be from where these keys coming and what's the point of them?

1st, this thread's 7 years ago, from the time where you could still normally buy and trade with keys.

2nd, at some point Valve made an update, that made keys untradeable from that point on, meaning you can still buy keys and open cases with them, but they can no longer be traded after 7 days. The ones you see on the market are the ones from before the update, those remain tradeable after 7 days
