CS2 Not Smooth
Hi,
I have excellent high-end hardware including the new AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, RTX 4070 TI SUPER, DDR5 RAM, good cooling system, etc..
I also use VG259QM 240Hz monitor.
I usually have 600FPS+- ingame.
For some reason my game is NOT smooth at all when I put vertical-sync OFF (which should be OFF) although I have above 500 FPS. When I put vertical sync ON, it runs smoother but stuck on 240FPS.
Do you guys have any idea why?
The vertical sync should be off like all the pros, it should run better, but for me it doesnt run smooth. Why?

actually ur wrong.
They devs are correct when they say to turn on vsync.
Due to how gsync/freesync are suppposed to work which many players use.
Your are supposed to turn on vysnc otherwise you don't actually get the benefits of gsync in the first place and can actually worsen your end to end system latency in some instances.

this has actually been the case for over a decade but people get it wrong all time,

Neet little video that was recently made explaining all this

TLDR
if you can consistently crank out absurdly high fps numbers and don't care about screen tearing
vsync off gsycn off relfex off.

If you don't want screen tearing and want the lowest end to end latency possible.
Gsync on
Vsync on
Reflex on + boost
it will cap your fps a few frames lower than your refresh rate but your latency numbers will be super low in the single digits,
Personally i use this setup at 240hz
CS2 runs at a locked 225fps with latency numbers between 4-7ms this is actually a lower latency number than just running with an uncapped framerate in the 400-500fps range with vsync and gsync off,

Should your game or setup not support reflex
Gsync/freesync on
Vsync on
Driver or rivatuner fps cap
137 for 140hz monitor
237 for for 240hz
356 for for 360hz,

I just want to make sure I understood you correctly,
you suggest playing with G-SYNC + V-SYNC ON ?
You were right, it will lock on 225fps.
It's actually runs smoother but it seems that the enemies see me first (couple of miliseconds before I see them).
In addition, why all the pros use V-SYNC OFF ? There should be a reason for that..

Thank you for your help <3

oh no stuck at 240fps, what a horrible suffering
when you turn v-sync on it syncs the framerate to the refresh rate of your monitor, so in this case, you have a 240hz monitor. To have better framerate turn off your v-sync.

is it also lagging in other games or just cs2?

yes vsync +gsync is the way to go

as to why all pros use vsync off
its honestly prob muscle memory and force of habit at this point.
back in the day sure cause gsync didnt exist
but the times have changed.
All data collected from GPU manufacturers, developers and display manufacturers all point to one conclusion.

Running an uncapped framerate with High refresh rate monitors is actually horrible for system latency and we've been doing it wrong for years.

Try to write -freq 240 in the launch parameters, if it doesn't help, then try to dig around in the nvidia control panel

or turn off gsync on the monitor

Hello, I have Solution.

Three steps first nvidia settings second is in-game settings and third is windows Settings.

its for GSYNC and VSYNC users only.

WINDOWS:

1. Go on Game mode settings and disable Xbox Game Bar and Game Mode.
2.Go on Graphics Settings and Turn on:Hardware-accelerated Gpu scheduling and Variable refresh rate (both has to be on)

NVIDIA:
1. Anisotropic Filtering - 16X (just put it on 16x)
Gamma Correction must be - ON
2. Low Latency Mode - ON
3. Max Frame rate - 141 (if 144hz monitor 238 for 240hz and etc. nvidia will automatically show the lower number of your monitors actual hz when you slide)
4. Shader Cache size - Unlimited
5. Texture Filtering options will be: OFF , Clamp , Performance , ON.
6. Vertical Sync must be: Use The 3D Application Settings
7. Gsync also must be ON
8. then we go to Set up G-Sync section and tick Enable for Windowed and Fullscreen mode.

IN-Game:
first of all reset all the settings.

1. Boost Player Contrast - Disabled (this is Living Stutter in Game)

2. Vsync - Enabled
3. Gsync - Enabled
4. Reflex Low Latency - Enabled
5. Fps In Game - 140
6. Fps In Menus - 140

My Settings: Custom
7. Anti Aliasing - None
8. Global Shadow - Low
9. Dynamic Shadow - All
10. Model Texture - Low
11. Texture Filtering mode - ANISOTROPIC 4X (DO NOT EVER CHANGE THIS OPTION NEVER EVER !)
12. Shader - Low
13. Particle - Low
14. Occlusion - Disabled
15. HDR - Performance
16. Fidelity Fx - Disabled (Highest Quality)

after this you go To Damage Prediction settings and put everything: NO
then you go Telemetry and put everything on: Never

Restart Pc and Enjoy the Game (LMK if this works for you aswell)

Yeah. It's weird. The game will have these tiny 1ms stutters randomly. Not sure if this is due to shaders or what. Seems worse when Chromium based applications run in the background. Such as Discord and Google Chrome. So yeah, don't listen to that guy, it's not all in your head. I already made a post showing clips of it here:

As for the OP. Yeah, the game is only smooth when enabling vsync and the game is capped to your monitor, otherwise the screen tearing is horrid.

do you have an SSD?
Shadow Feb 11 @ 9:32pm
Fix these micro stutters already. Hitting tab is a stutter fest and having Opera GX or Discord causes terrible micro stuttering.

debloat windows, disable gamebar, ingame overlay from windows, tweak windows settings and boom u have very smooth game
