CS2 Cheating Problem: A Trust-Based Solution ( Player reference network or Player reference tree)
CS2 has truly become unplayable. The old Overwatch system should be reinstated, but that alone is not enough—more comprehensive solutions need to be implemented.

The most logical solution I can think of is a subscription-based service offering clean servers. This system would include:

✅ Private servers where cheaters cannot enter.
✅ A requirement for at least two references from existing players to join.
✅ A trust factor rating, where players build a trust network through referrals.

How Will Cheaters Be Prevented?

If a player is caught cheating, they will not only have their account banned but also receive a full device ban. This means they won’t be able to create a new account and rejoin the system.

To play again, they would need to purchase an entirely new device.

Additionally, players who vouched for the cheater will lose trust points, with the biggest penalty applied to direct referrers.

How Will the Ban System Work?

If a player's trust rating drops below a certain threshold, they will first be banned from premium and competitive matches for one week.

If it falls further, they will be automatically removed from the system and flagged as a cheater.

Community Moderation & Overwatch System

The system will operate using both automated anti-cheat software and a player-reviewed Overwatch system.

MG2 and higher-ranked players will be eligible to participate in Overwatch reviews.

The reviewer must be at least three ranks higher than the players in the match they are reviewing, ensuring experienced players are making the decisions.

Players who contribute to Overwatch reviews will receive discounts on their subscription fees.

Rewards for Fair Players

The best players will be invited to LAN tournaments with clean computers, allowing them to prove their skills and earn prizes.

Community contributors will be recognized with special badges, prestige points, and rewards.

This system would deter cheaters while rewarding fair players.

If we truly want a competitive and clean environment in CS2, a system like this needs to be implemented. What do you think?

Im not an expert on this topic, but I would like to propose a possible solution. If you have knowledge in this area, would you be willing to help with the project?

i find "Setting up a system that tracks hardware serial numbers and MAC addresses shouldn't be too difficult. By comparing multiple hardware identifiers, we can detect inconsistencies and flag suspicious accounts""
Cheaters will some how take advantage on the vouch thing as they did with overwatch Valve has let them become to big of a "community" so trust me it will end bad but well thought idea tho
I think it would be a very logical thing to do, but there are people like me who got a vac ban for no reason. What will happen to them? According to the system you mentioned, they will still be banned. I think they should issue an amnesty for once and then implement it regularly.
Because there are many people who are banned for no reason

If you can find at least two people who are willing to vouch for you, you can join the system. However, they must already be part of the system; otherwise, they cannot vouch for you.

Everyone can have a fresh start in this new system. In fact, I am even considering creating fun servers in the future where certain cheats are allowed—essentially turning cheats into a game mode.

Anyway, the core idea here is that this trust network, or tree, will start with the most reliable players—people I personally trust the most. The first members of the system will mainly be high-level Global Elite players or invited professional esports players.

So, finding someone to vouch for you will likely take at least 3-4 months. That’s the whole point—the community will look up to the most skilled and trustworthy players, who will also act as guardians of fair play. These players will not only gain respect but also have opportunities to earn money within the system.

Since cheaters will be referring to each other, it will be much easier to identify and cut off corrupted branches from the network. Cheaters won't be able to find new references easily, and even if they do, they won’t be able to cheat as freely, because the community will be structured in a hierarchical way, where every level observes and monitors the other levels.

The reference system will be designed with strict limitations to prevent abuse, ensuring that cheaters cannot manipulate it as they did with Overwatch.

1. **Annual Reference Limit** – Each player will have a limited number of references they can give per year, preventing mass referrals and making each decision more meaningful.
2. **Restricted Access to the System** – Only players who are part of the system will be allowed to give references. Those outside of it will not have any influence.
3. **Initial Members: Trusted Players & Esports Professionals** – The system will be founded by a group of highly reputable and well-known esports players and verified trustworthy individuals. This ensures that the foundation is built upon reliable players.
4. **Higher Privileges for the First Group** – The initial trusted group will have more authority in the system, such as being able to provide references to more players, ensuring a strong and reliable start.
5. **ELO-Based Reference Restrictions** – Players will not be able to refer others who are significantly higher or lower in rank than themselves. This prevents groups of cheaters from artificially validating each other.
6. **Accountability for References** – If a referred player is caught cheating, the person who vouched for them will also be affected. This introduces responsibility, making players highly cautious about whom they refer.
7. **Easy Detection of Compromised Areas** – If a cheater enters the system, their reference chain will be traced to identify where the issue began, allowing the "infected" part of the network to be removed efficiently.
8. **Encouraging Careful Selection** – Since references are limited and carry consequences, players will be incentivized to choose their referrals wisely.

With these measures in place, the risk of manipulation is significantly reduced. The system ensures that references are meaningful, responsible, and limited, creating a trustworthy environment where cheaters cannot easily exploit the mechanics.
anything can be abuse
If there is a cheater on the map, learn from him how to play.
Based on the experience of the game "CrossFire", the clan system and separate 5x5 clan-on-clan battles were a relief from cheaters. You could always complain to the clan leader, attaching a game recording that took up very little space, and after checking by the clan management, which included the most experienced players, the cheater was kicked out of the clan, moreover, a game recording remained in a special topic on the forum, on the basis of which the account and those associated with it were then banned.

If I remember right, Valve once tried to implement a much more Intrusive Anticheat (kinda like Overwatch in it's early days or Genshin Impact now a days), complete with ID, MAC Adress, Serial Number, UUID and Product Number spoofing of GPU, CPU, Chipset, Network Chip, RAM, etc... with Hardware bans, IP Bans and black listing. That was way back in the early CSGO days.

But there was huge cry and s-h-i-t- storm about privacy and security, from all the Gamers (mostly the cheaters themselves), thus Valve dropped it entirely. The Rest is History

if someone is approved but then the people they vouch for start cheating then they're screwed forever, though. Also, mg2 is a very high rank to detect cheaters. If people are very familiar with cs mechanics and how it should look with nothing modifying it, they really only need to be gold nova 1 like it was in the previous overwatch system. there's no system in place to just whitelist the legit players, with a ban list for cheaters. I feel like if someone gets vac banned or too many cooldowns for irregular gameplay, that it should just match them with others that have vac bans or a ton of cooldowns. If these cooldowns don't keep being handed out to the player and irregular gameplay is no longer detected then their trust % should go back up, but it should be based on the faceit trust system or similar. If someone has banned friends on their friends list, it will give them a lower trust% score, private cs2 hours, or low cs2 hours, and it increases much more slowly if they previously had cooldowns.

players with modded commends or medals should have their trust% modified so increases to their trust% are only percentages of what it goes up for normal players. Or it remains permanently locked below 15% or so? Modding medals into an account requires modifying the game's files, so I would naturally want those players in lower trust--if they are comfortable modding medals onto their cs2 account then they're more likely to run cheats or other modifications to gain an advantage.

Servers need a whitelist system for sure, to only allow clean players to connect in the first place. The ability for the VAC system to detect irregular gameplay should be improved greatly, and matches just straight up cancelled, but this would require vacnet 3.0-live active on all comp matches. I have a feeling it does not visually detect irregular gameplay, so if someone had DMA or something else to obscure changes to the game's memory, irregular patterns could still be detected.
