Buddy got VAC banned for 20 hours for suspicious gameplay?

My buddy and I who lives with me were playing games today, probably got through about 8-10. All of a sudden match gets canceled for "VAC determined someone in the game is suspicious" thats not the exact wording but similar. We load out, and come to find out its my buddy who they banned and i also got banned for being in a party with him. I know for a fact this man does not cheat. I mean I was top fragging with 19 kills and he was middle of the team with like 10. Just trying to wrap my head around the stupidity of banning someone for 20 hours just because they seem suspicious. We are genuinely confused and curious if anyone has experienced the same?

it happened to me also and i was solo Q. after the second half ct side 2 rounds in game suspected me and probably the rest of randoms got banned. for me it was for 7 days. it could be a vac bug or server issues and i never cheated ever. so its happening recently towards legit players

Why not? I'm sure if this happens to you too you would do the same. Considering that Valve won't apologize or do anything to make up their mistake. It's like,"hey you got banned for 20 hours for no reason, now we allow you to play again".

i've been playing for ten years and recently got back into it. i saw some guy said that he was 2-13 in a match and got banned. this isnt normal lmao. Like I said, I've been playing for a long time and have never ran into this.

I used to work with this guy who would closet cheat. He didn't tell me right away, and that mf was always mid to bottom frag and silver.
I know what I am seeing. The vast majority are on private or straight up fresh accounts.
This pattern is probably not accidental.

It's like I said. I live with the buddy. We both have put a good amount of hours into this game, and we both have prime. I've been playing for ten years. I can go and see his computer. And I love my buddy, but I dont know if he even knows how to install cheats. I definitely dont. And I believe most are paid cheats nowadays correct? You have to be a complete imbecile to pay to cheat in a game where the whole point is to try to play better to see how high your rank can go.
