what's going on with MM ? (prime)
I used to play CS:GO almost every day back in 2019 and climbed from Gold Nova 1 to LE. Then, for various reasons, I completely quit gaming. After that, I’d only play for a few weeks at most before quitting again. This month, I started playing again, did a recalibration, and got around 4500 MMR, which I’m totally fine with. But then, interesting things started happening.

In my opinion, it’s impossible to stay at low MMR (e.g., 3000–5000) for a long time because when you play matchmaking for wins, you gain around 600–900 points but lose only about 100. Now I’ve reached 10k, and the same issue persists: even if your win rate is 50/50, you can’t stay at this level for long since you lose 100 points per loss but gain 600–700 per win. Even if you’re a bad player, your low rating will inevitably rise regardless of how much effort you put in.

However, at 10k, a different problem arises: you can’t play at all. Why? Because you encounter players with 1–20 profile levels (referring to the internal profile level that increases after every win or loss) and 2000–3000 hours in CS!!! It’s completely unplayable—every game, you’re at the bottom of the scoreboard, sometimes with just 1 kill for the entire match, sometimes with 5. From what I can see, these players mostly play on Faceit and come to low-rated matchmaking for fun, but it’s only fun for them.

This matchmaking system is broken because of Faceit players. Why am I forced to play on servers from a third-party company instead of official Valve servers? Why is the balance there so much better than what Valve offers? (I won’t even touch on the topic that their servers are better than Valve’s official ones).

As I understand it, Valve has shifted focus to new players instead of the pro scene. But how can you play in such conditions as a new player? Even knowing some mechanics, I can’t enjoy the game. So imagine how a brand-new player must feel in these conditions?

Here's a tip.

If you suspect someone is cheating on your team or theirs, abandon.

Take the cool down. In fact, don't play for a couple days.

Come back. If it happens again, abandon.

It's what I've done to keep the experience fun.

For me, it all changes around 5k ELO. Ultra sus accounts playing like gods tilting matches at will.

For this reason, I just say screw it and take a break. Abandon. -1000 ELO.

Shouldn't be how it is, but that's how it is.

suddenly i think the best way is to play faceit only instead of playing MM on official servers, but from what i can see, at least in my case they wasnt cheaters, i think they are just smurfing, nothing more, but maybe im blind and they are really cheaters. Anyway playing faceit almost solving both issues

He's cheating and lying about it. Just like anyone using the word "smurf".
Nobody smurfs lol. Smurfing takes skill, which nobody has anymore. It's all bots with cheats pretending to be legits

Why even play at this point?
I don't understand how anyone can start matches knowing it will be full of third worlders cheating and trying to hide it as if they would die if they admit it.
